Conveyancing / Buying a House. Do I have a right to access the property prior to sign

Hi there,

I've been embroiled in the sale of an apartment for 3 months now. Contracts have not yet been exchanged, as my solicitor is awaiting the MUD Act Requisition from the seller.

I've requested access to the property for 30 mins so that I can prepare for the move (take measurements, identify reno-needs). However, the selling agent has refused to grant access until after contracts are exchanged (despite their acknowledgement that the delay is on the side of the seller and not the buyer).

Do I have any right to challenge this? It seems unreasonable.

You dont own the house. What makes you think you have any rights?

You haven't even contracted to buy the place yet.
Get your solicitor to stipulate pre-purchase access in your contract if you feel you need to.

I think you should ask for an inspection prior

But that's a structural survey make sure its sound not to measure curtains

That's reasonable and should be facilitated even pre contract
