    1) Tipping

Their tipping culture is obnoxious and 'in your face'.

Simply pay your staff a living minimum wage.

    2) Guns. No country is obsessed with guns like the USA. The bears, wolves, Redcoats and Injuns are gone!!!! A private citizen doesn't need a weapon or arsenal.

    3) Poor social protection..... maternity leave is almost zero. People having to work two or three jobs to pay the mortgage on an average house.

No 3) is definitely not true. Housing is affordable across many parts of the US. You might be confusing it with Ireland.

The real problem with US culture is its hegemony. Not just on the right but in the left (identity politics).

The arrogance about their country, they seem to think America invented democracy and freedom, i'v heard american's say "where else would you get this kind of freedom" Eh in most of Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand ect they seem to think there the most free country in the world, their democratic system is terrible compared to most western countries, it's basically a 2 party state hardly an ideal situation.

2 Their attitude to the military, Being in the army is a job, the soldiers don't deserve to be deified for it, They act like everybody in the military is the greatest person ever, their military commits terrible acts on a regular basis but they won't hear a bad word against them. Their level of nationalism is scary at times no other country could possibly be doing something better then America, their military is the force for absolute good in the world ect.

Oh forget to say American sports, more ads then playing time and the Superbowl really isn't very important compared to a world cup final, champions league final or even the Clasico dwarf the superbowl in terms of worldwide audience and interest. Nobody outside America gives a ****e about the Superbowl it really isn't "the greatest show on earth" when nobody outside of one country cares about it.

Every time they crash they blow up.

Well played, sir! (That's actually pretty damned observant)

That's part of a brainwashing attempt to convince the public to sign up because without them being deified and being seen as so great by the general public why would anyone in there right mind sign up for such a dangerous job.

The 2 times I was in America I loved it , the people are very friendly (in spite of Americans strangely having a reputation for being quite obnoxious).

Well, that's certainly not true. The NFL has a very big following outside the States.

Did he say it was as big as the World Cup.

There is a definite interest outside of America in American football.

WTF is the deal with all the cultural cringe threads?!? If stuff makes you cringe, don't participate. If it doesn't make the people who participate cringe, what harm?

Exact same can be said about GAA and Hurling

Ah now, that's probably the best thing they do. I'm always astounded at the full stadiums for the high school/college football, basketball etc. When we were going for provincial/national tournaments back in secondary school it would have been quality to have actual interested locals at the games as opposed to a load of teenagers who were just there to get out of a few classes.

My younger brother got a free degree from them because he's quite decent at the soccer ball - not quite as good as his older brother but that's a topic for a different day ;)

Yeah, and their sports programs generate a lot of money.
The University of Texas for example have a stadium that holds over 100,000 people and their Texas Longhorns football team generate profits well over $50 million a year, and the profits go back to the University to be invested in various programs and research.

The notion that if you knuckle down, work hard and buy a house in which to raise a family then you are living the exclusive "American Dream". So some 4th century Greek farmer who toiled and got ahead or some medieval blacksmith who opened a second forgery were living the American dream. Fcuk off with yourself.

And making a big deal out of the most miniscule things. I think I was about 8 and on holiday in Kerry with my mum and dad. I was by myself skimming stones by a lakeshore and some over the top yank in a yellow anorak exclaimed incredulously "wow you skimmed that four times" as if I had just split the atom. Gob****e then proceeded to gather a few more of his rotund entourage to marvel at my out of this world skills. It was embarrassing.

Why are you comparing it to that? I would suggest it is by far the most globally popular "indigenous" sport. Compare it to any other sport localized to 1 country (Hurling, Aussie Rules, Canadian Football etc etc) and I'd say it's by a wide wide margin the most popular one globally. Terrific sport.

America has produced so much great films, art, books and TV shows that I can forgive the more annoying aspects of its culture. It's a fascinating country too.

I also find it endlessly fascinating how much America and American culture irks so many people! :D

I think if Americans made the same sweeping generalisations about people of other nations that we do about them, we'd be lambasting them as bigots. It seems to be acceptable to run down America but not vice versa.

The NFL pays no tax, gets billions off citys to build stadiums ,and various tax credits ,and they pay cheerleaders less than a living wage .
nfl is treated like a religion or a charity in terms of paying taxs and it makes
billions for tv broadcasting rights .
Some american states wont expand obama care for political reasons ,
even though it would save them millions in health care costs .
And they bring in laws to shut down planned parenthhood health clinics that provide free healthcare to people on low income just because 1 per cent of their funds
go to providing abortion services .
The rich get richer ,theres loads of loopholes that enable them to avoid paying
tax, set up a charity or a shell corporation or buy artworks etc
a billionaire said its bad that i pay less tax than my secretary ,
    if i want to .
American colleges spend millions on sports teams ,stadiums, it a business ,
but they dont pay the players as its deemed to be a sport like a
charity .American colleges get paid millions for tv sporting rights and
selling merchandise , baseball caps, team shirts etc
The NSA spys on every country that uses the web, germany, france ,
its european allies , the eu parliament ,.
IF you are not born in the us you are viewed as a potential terrorist .
They can palnt malware or spyware on any device or pc along as its outside the us.
american infrastructure is falling apart because congress does not
want to pass any bills on spending apart from buying
billion dollar planes, drones, military contracts .
The spend billions on spying but every week some big american comapny gets hacked .
yahoo got hacked ,millions of email accounts were hacked and then took
their time telling the public about it .
Basic road ,rail, and bridge repairs are not being done .
at some point there will be a serious accident , a bridge falling down .
the ratings are going down for the nfl ,american sports ,
maybe due to people getting tired of mediocre games , too much sport on tv.And various scandals eg players getting injured due to concussion.
Most citys have only comcast or att service , so broadband is more expensive and slower than in ireland or most european countrys .
American healthcare is very expensive cos its mostly done by private
companys and covered by insurance ,
so a few days in hospital could cost you 1000,s of dollars .
someone buys an american company, all of a sudden the price of
a life saving drug goes up by a factor of 10 or more .
The wages are so low in walmart that many people who work their claim
    food stamps to survive .
America is falling behind , china is catching up in the area of phones ,
computers and new tech products , they dont have stupid laws on ip or software patents .
Its easier to make a new pc or phone in china than it is in america .
