That's the one, thank you kindly!

They also use this rather lovely Bowie song for their 'Euro 2016 memories' cut.

I wonder is there a market for the Second Captains to move more into current affairs in some of their podcasts? Apparently they had wanted to do that before they left Newstalk, and now that they're more free to do what they want, would it make sense?

I'd definitely listen to a Second Captains politics podcast if it involved Ken giving his thoughts on things. :D

I'm not that keen on Ken's ramblings but I think Eoin is a fantastic interviewer when given the chance to interview someone interesting.

Didn't Ken have a current affairs slot on Newstalk at some stage? No idea what it was like.

Did he? Anyone have any recordings? From reading his twitter feed he's very much on top of current affairs, and he's quite opinionated too :D

Don't remember that. He did, however, sit in for Fionn Davenport on his arts-y show a few times.

Brendan O'Brien presented a current affairs show on Newstalk - "The Saturday Edition." Ken used to do the newspaper review every now then and he filled for O'Brien as the presenter a couple of times.

The boys are clearly informed and interested in current affairs, but I don't know if it could get a little bit wearying if it became a bigger part of their act

Trump is a Godsend because he's so easy to talk about. Blasting him is like shooting fish in a barrel; you can safely assume 80% of your audience think he's an absolute moron. What he says and how he operates is so outlandish, cartoonish even, that he's a perfect for a Ken Early analysis-job. Ken zeros in on absurdity and reacts with comical incredulity better than most journalists. But Trump is easy to talk about: it's political theatre. They aren't talking about Trump because they are invested in American Politics; they talk about him because it's funny.

If they were to start making political analysis a bigger aspect of the show I think they'd be in danger of rocking the boat a bit too much. They do talk about it every now and again, but the only time there was a really controversial difference of opinion was Ken's views on 1916 V Murph's.

Once you start talking about politics or even current affairs on a sports show, your potential minefields start to multiply. Also, it's one thing talking about Trump, but what about having to listen to chats about Water Charges, Bin Charges...By-Elections? I don't mind them delving into current affairs sometimes, it's a break from the norm, but I'm not convinced that having it as a regular element would help the show.

Of course, if they had a spin-off show called Citizen Ken, or something like that, I'd probably subscribe.

I'd prefer if they left their personal politics out of the pod as it is.... I wouldn't seek out a 2nd Captains politics pod if one existed.

Had same issue here (using pocket casts), had to seek it out separately.

Couldn't load it via Podcast Republic either. Found it on SoundCloud though.

I'm another user of Podcast Addict and I've never had any issue with The Second Captains podcasts.

Never had an issue with pocket casts either until last week for some reason

Was it a special or just one of the 4 shows?

^ One of the normal shows. Bit random.

Re. today's show - Kieran Donaghy was a surprisingly good guest. Didn't know about his dad and his issues, so that was new on me. He was surprisingly humble too, hard for me as a Corkman to say...

    .

Some problem with the RSS maybe. There's different ones for the same podcasts, I remember changing it for something to get more episode info.

The SC feed I see is hosted on feedburner.

Sometimes by unsubscribing and then resubscribing, missing podcasts will show up on feeds.

Had a look at Wrigley field after Thursday's pod.

It seems to be a dump, but people still love it

The houses across the street have stands on their roofs!
You can see the various 360-degree shots of their terrible views here

Seems like the PBESO's are making a comeback, what's the point of them it just seems like it's some eejit trying desperately to prove that they are "mad craic altogether"

At least you can skip them.

I know, as soon as I heard the tune I thought, "no, no, this can't be fair - this nonsense was finished with ages ago."
