No harm to give it to them. Smug IT workers during the recession gloating in their cushy jobs. Won't be long before they're all replaced with computers anyway. And smug HR saying to upskill and learn code lol. IT the dying trade.

A Bitter Mars Bar would be more appropriate.

If computers replace software engineers they will replace everything else. This is one company's problem. Probably mostly non tech layoffs

Eh 12 years ago the trades was in bits. Their time is over. The little run is finished. Confined to the ages like the factory workers of the past.

Not even worth thinking of a rebuttal

Will be great actually. As the hard working decent tax payer won't be funding these free loading spongers any longer. Still waiting on my 13 billion apple.

Care to share what you do OP?

Just so we can have a good laugh.

Twitters been flagging for a long time. Huge overheads and very poor profits (if any) for a company valued in the billions.

Over time it's been having difficulty gaining new users as it's largely become a platform for loud people to be loud and angry at eachother and marketing companies to gather data on you.

Unlike facebook, there's no personal aspect to twitter, the "social" aspect involves getting into arguments and the nature of what it does has remained largely unchanged.

Other platforms have diversified not only the nature of the platform, but also the nature of the business; facebook is building enormous datacentres and will likely enter the cloud computing market against AWS.

Twitter hasn't, and now it's a dead duck (pun intended).

Twitter was banking on being taken over. The last serious suitor was Salesforce and they said around two weeks ago that they weren't interested. Afaik Twitter has never made money so it was inevitable that they would downsize. Even if they were taken over there would have been a bloodbath.

If technical staff are let go they will find a job almost immediately. The "soft skills" people may have a tougher struggle. Whatever happens I wish them good luck, it's not a nice trait to revel in anothers misfortune OP

And what about the common worker with Twitter who has bills to pay and families to support? Cop the fúck on. Unemployment is never fun for anyone and it puts extra pressure on the state coffers too

I dont agree with the tax breaks either but i certainly dont want to see jobs lost.

Believe me, as computers replace the workforce, IT jobs will just increase. These lay offs have nothing to do with the IT sector. But hey, people are losing their jobs, come on the internet to cheer about it. It means less people paying into your dole.
