Just curious as so many pubs are bringing in a few craft taps, but add a Euro or more onto the typical price of macro lager.

(ignoring the meanings of "craft", just anything thats defined as craft that not a standard macro-brew).

Last time I was in Anseo on Camden St I think you could get a pint of O'Haras Red or Stout for less less than €5.

JW Sweetman pints are €4.50 if you have a loyalty card. Galway Bay pubs have Via Maris for €4.50 as a regular and sometimes have specials priced the same or cheaper. The Porterhouse bars have one of their beers for €4 a pint every day on a rotating basis.

Porterhouse Plain is a respectable €4.70 in the Headline.

Been a while since I was there, but the Gingerman used to have a 4 pint pitcher of Rebel Red for €13

Thanks, I forgot to mention that place. Probably the best bet, even if the range is small. Was there last month and prices had risen a little but still under a fiver for the Franciscan Well beers I think. Rebel Red and Chieftan IPA are decent enough for me!

It was €5.60 for a pint of Chieftan direct from the brewpub.

I would consider it craft....although I don't like the term "craft beer"
    I just like good beer.

Do they even brew Chieftan at the brewpub?

Yeah it was, still too expensive. The staff were also terrible.

Not sure, they were brewing the stout. Did get a trip to the brewery and they had the Jameson colab in one of the fermentors. Impressive place.

Their keg washer/filler was something else

I don't think they brew there at all anymore, I may be wrong though. I would assume it'd be specials only if so (but I've not seen any Fran Well specials in a while). Ratebeer doesn't list any new beers since last year either though. http://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/franciscan-well-molsoncoors/4350/

Edit: Just seeing RasTa says they are still brewing there. Weird they haven't done any specials at all.

A year ago or so I was in the Franciscan Well in Cork. We were a tad surprised at their prices, since there were nicer places nearby selling plenty of craft beer cheaper, e.g. the Bierhaus. A friend of mine pointed out to a barman that the Gingerman in Dublin was selling their beer for a lot less, an how it seemed strange to pay so much at the source. Yer man seemed very surprised and made some comment about the Gingerman "devaluing premium brands".

Heh. If it wasn't for cheap pints of "Writer's Block" and "Writer's Red" in The Gingerman there probably wouldn't still be a Franciscan Well brewery.

The Hill Pub in Ranelagh do €4.50 all craft pints on a Wednesday.

I'd a pint of Galway Hooker Double IPA 8.3% for €4.50..............Incredible value!

    Great selection there on tap

In the Gingerman tonight after the marathon. Pitchers now €18. But that includes Chieftan @5.3% so no complaints. Still the nicest barstaff in town.
