I take a cheese and onion, and a daily and vinegar, and I eat them both in the one go.

How often do you have them?

Some people fell down the stairs in Meath and it's the lead story on RTE news.

Weird little place we live in.

Where I live the headlines read "local stairs collapses"

From your extensive knowledge of roller coasters?

    Huh?
It's just an observation is all.

You said "That cant be safe...". Do you not think the opposite would be true? That it must be relatively safe for thousands of people to be allowed on it? Everything has the possibility of something going wrong but I assume the roller coaster was deemed safe by someone with much more extensive knowledge than you or I.

    Remember the Tayto Park 14.
    They're with the angles now.

Probably, and statistics from other countries would suggest that wooden roller coasters are nor more or less safe than other materials.

It just seemed to me that using wood as a building material in a wet country like ours is not the best idea given how wood can absorb water, expand and contract and rot.
And then there that the HSE do not have a lot of experience with Roller-coaster safety standards compared to other countries.

But you are right -we go on trust, trust that the staff at TP maintain and inspect it adequately and that the HSE safety experts know what they are doing.
And I have been on, and enjoyed, that roller coaster so the above 'that cant be safe' comment was a bit tongue in cheek.

Some Engineer is going to come down with this one and to be fair there would appear to be something very much borderline about the design that allowed it to collapse in such a situation.

No one was seriously injured so everything is hunky dory .
They will need some Skips to take away debris .

and an increase of tayto park admission / ride prices of about 5 or 10% to cover that, next year.

This is the quote I like the best from the article.

...He said: "My 25-year-old brought her 13-year-old and two girls of the same age....

    Jaysis
Actually, she said : "My 25-year-old brought my 13-year-old and two girls of the same age. They had just stepped onto the landing when the stairs below them collapsed."

    Slightly different reportage...

Could have ben a hell of a lot worse
Four people have died after a water raft flipped and overturned on a theme park ride in Australia trapping two and throwing two others.

A serious accident affecting 12 people whose injuries could be serious and your reaction is to come onto boards and make a joke about it.

Worse still is the rest of the comedians on boards having a go. Well done everyone.

This site sometimes balances on the rim of a barrel of utter ****.

Ah FFS, listen to yourself. Serious injuries?
I've seen worse injuries in a football match.

Was there couple of weeks ago, some laugh, coaster is some job. Unfortunately some things were closed that day including the zip line. Wristband is worth getting if you plan to be on a few rides. I wish those involved a speedy recovery

Zip line closes in September until Spring.

It actually remained open. They just sealed off the accident site.

I'm sure the wooden roller coaster is just as safe as the wooden stairs. oh wait...

My daughter and I did that wooden rollercoaster 7 times in a row (no queues) before I couldn't take any more, so my wife and I switched kids and I went off to look after my son instead.

He was only 4 so we got on some ride for little kids, and it was the tamest thing in the world, just some mild bumps up and down. But I was still feeling sick, and I was worried that I'd actually get sick, and people would think it was that tame kids ride that had made me sick, which would make me look like the biggest wimp in the place.

there is another ride for the little kiddies- like a mini Ferris wheel, is beside the trampolines and opposite the frogs.
Takes about an hour to get on it as they need to stop & let each one off individually
