Your all time favorite comedy movies

Nothing beats a good comedy classic. I often feel like comedies can be either hit or miss, but when done right they are sure to give you a lot of laughs. So what are your favorite comedy movies?

    My favorites are

Monty Python's The Holy Grail, Life of Brain, and Meaning of Life. Say what you will about Monty Python's Flying Circus, and how outdated you might find their comedy to be, but I think their movies are a whole different level. Such classic comedies that were well written, had great acting, and I also liked the editing of the movies as well. I'd say my favorite is probably the Life of Brian, then Holy Grail, and Meaning of Life at the end.

Airplane! - Another all time classic, Airplane! turned Leslie Nielson from a dramatic actor into a comedy legend, and gave birth to his deadpan comedy style. The movie is full of great quotes and jokes that could almost beat The Simpsons for quotes I think. "Surely you can't be serious?" "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"

Police Academy - Probably one of my favorite movies growing up, the first Police Academy gave my first taste for comedy. It's mostly known for it's low brow humour and cast of beloved characters such as the gun loving nut Tackleberry, the human sound box Jones, and the "Mister Nasty" of the Police Academy Lt Harris. But I still love the movie even after all these years.

Ghostbusters - It has to be there right? I mean it still stands the test of time and has a lot of memorable jokes and moments. But it's definitely up there for me as one of my all time favorites.

Shaun of the Dead - A bit more modern compared to the other movies on my list, but I think Shaun of the Dead is genius, well written, and a nice parody of the stereotypical zombie apocalypse movies we all know and love.

Anyway I'll keep my list at 5 just so i don't have to go on and on, but will probably have a few more movies later once the ball gets rolling.

    Ferris Bueller's Day Off
No matter how bad a day I've had, this gem of escapism always brings a smile to my face.

    Fletch and Fletch Lives.

    Also Vacation and Christmas Vacation.

    And even Spies Like Us.

Chevy Chase could do no wrong in the '80s.

I love the Airplanes, Police Squads as well as The Big Lebowski, Young Frankenstein, Life of Brian, Blazing Saddles.

However, despite thinkinh LoB is a classic, I rewatched Holy Grail recently and its very poor compared to it. Some good moments but too many daft ones that simply have not stood the test of time. I find LoB a different type of comedy completely.

Clerks is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen but whenever i ask, it seems like hardly anyone else has seen it. 2 wasn't bad either.

American Pie, caught up with it again recently and it's still brilliant. I was only a few years behind the character's age wise so it just seemed right.

Nope! When Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston etc are (tin pot) comedy gods you know things are pretty bad.

The Birdcage was very good. Nathan Lane played a very good character especially the John Wayne walk scene.
