Not sure there'll be anyone left to notice...

    I concur.

Interest is definitely starting to fade now without a tracker. Really only catching what I come across walking into college and hatching eggs. Woke up this morning to the surprise of an Electabuzz that spawned outside the apartment!

I see your logic but I disagree. Lets wait and see how this thread dies off over the next 2-3 weeks perhaps?

You're right, pickarooney will be here for sure :)

We'll have to get him on The 12 Steps!

What's with all the Paras hate? Parasect is a little beast for tackling gyms. Brilliant for training.
I have an army of them, always happy to have more.

There was supposedly another nest migration last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,331 ✭✭✭AMGer

Yes boys, finally caught myself a Grimer :)
Only 83CP but it's another entry, only two more to get now.
(What's the bet one of the four 5km eggs I have is a Grimer)

Finally caught something rare in the wild , bagged an 1,800 CP Snorlax on the way to work this morning , outside cassidys hotel on Parnell sqr

Sh!t Move set but was worth the candies powered up my other snorlax to over 2,200 and the buzz if catching somthing other than a basturd Pidgy , Spearow , Drowzee or Rattata

Paras was one of the things I've have powered up to level 31.5, it's an absolute beast for it'#s cp with fury cutter/solar beam. It easy takes down multiple pokemon if you dodge and charges up solar beam so fast.

Can we maybe get people to volunteer a different area to check out what nests are around?

I work in city center but wont get a chance to check out Stephens green, Merrion Sq and Iveagh gardens til tomorrow, I can go out to Irishtown natural reserve on Monday and see whats spawning out there

Just from what I seen this morning and as was passing again at lunch, Voltorb seems to be in Stephens Green

Was reading something last week (might have been on silph road) It was a stardust strategy guide. It stated that max pokemon level is 40 but showed a graph of pokemon level vs stardust cost.
Seems the power increase over level 30 isnt worth the stardust cost. More efficient to stop powering up at level 30.

I love it when you hatch your buddy. All those kilometres saved!
Accidentally discovered that caterpie sits on your shoulder straight away if you make it your buddy.

I tried, very badly, to explain this a few weeks ago.

Just to add to this after level 30.5 the CP increase per power up halves. For example, if you power up a Squirtle from level 30 to 30.5 he'll gain 11 - 14 CP (depending on IVs) but if you power him up from level 30.5 to level 31 he'll gain 5 - 7 CP.

I'd also go one step further and say that stardust won't be the limiting factor beyond level 30, candies will be. It takes 126 candies to power a level 1 Pokemon to level 30.5 but 193 candies from level 30.5 to level 40.5. Stardust isn't as dramatic with 125,000 and 155,000 the numbers respectively. It takes 500,000 XP to go from level 30 to level 31, this equates to a minimum of 200,000 stardust neglecting egg hatches, assuming every Pokemon caught provides a curveball and excellent bonus and allowing 80,000 XP from evolves and gym battles. Extrapolating 200,000 stardust from level 30 to 31 up to level 40 gives 7 million stardust (rounded down).

Despite all that whether it is worth it to power up Pokemon beyond level 30.5 will all depend on how gyms evolve and whether you take part in that aspect of the game.

So does all that mean you should do all your powering up before you hit level 30? Or does the level refer to the individual Pokemon?

So I'm level 26, and have a Poliwrath who is level 25.5 according to the arc on silphroad, etc. Should I be powering him up before I hit level 30, or does it mean that once his own level reaches 30 that there's no point?

The later but is will cost lesa to power him from 25.5 to 31 once you are at level 30 then powering him up as you move through the levels.

How do you find out what level your Pokemon are?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,348 ✭✭✭Kavrocks

The level as regards powering up refers to individual Pokémon. For stardust collection it refers to your XP.

It won't cost less to power a Pokémon up from 25.5 to 31 when you level 30. It will cost the exact same. Stardust and candy costs for powering up are fixed.

My 10km egg just hatched...Onyx :( Never going to have a Lapras at this rate. Then a 5km and 2km just hatched straight after, a Venonat and a Pidgey. I can pick up a dozen of each just by walking down the street. Only a bag full of 5km eggs left now, wish I could throw some out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,331 ✭✭✭AMGer

^^^ I'm up to 56 10km eggs hatched and only ever had the one Lapras

(Still haven't hatched a Hitmonlee from one!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭hdl

I haven't been keeping track of how many 10kms I've had, but it's a lot less than 55 :D Have never hatched a Lapras, Snorlax, Scyther, Aerodactyl, or Omanyte.

Hatched two ten K this morning, onyx and Scyther! Bah
Also caught Kabuto on pearse Street and there was a bloody grimer on the sightings when I got to my desk, alas he didn't show himself (barsteward)
Still three away from completion (excluding regionals)
And only thing I've yet to hatch from any egg is a snorlax (again bar the regionals)
    And
    Happy Friday people
