Wonder when publishers can start announcing games as coming to Switch (Have to get used to not typing NX)

I'd say there'll be no delay in such announcements, and Nintendo will have to pull up their socks and get demo units to shows soon, and drum up further interest.

[quoteI'm surprised at the number of actors in that video and no leaks[/QUOTE]
I was thinking exactly the same thing, such a big production and no one blabbed!
I assume the NDAs that were signed had them all too scared to leak anything!

Nintendo have owned the portable games sector since there was a such thing as a portable games sector.
Given their track record on that matter, and it's undeniable, why would anyone speculate that they might not somehow own it with this product as well?
I don't doubt that a significant number of purchasers are going to use this console almost exclusively as a handheld device, and another proportion will use it as a home console exclusively too.

Nintendo have never failed to illicit the support of third parties for it's on the go systems, no reason at all to see that trend ending with the Nintendo Switch.

Some of the posts seem just like the same trawling that we had with previous Nintendo hardware releases.
I'm only surprised no one has tried the "Nintendo is for kids" argument yet.

Mobile is the big risk for Nintendo. It needs to standout from mobile devices.

Also, looks like the rumour of no d-Pad was true.

As usual, Nintendo just making consoles for kids!

Most important thing they have to do now is not go back to radio silence. Obviously we'll get at least 2 directs or so before launch, but they've got momentum right now, everyone is talking about the switch. Keep it going, don't let us forget. It's less than half a year after all.

Trailer was of very little interest to me.

Disappointed they put so much effort into the portability factor, I'm not bothered with handhelds myself.

Half a year that makes it sound ages away, just say march from now on or just after Xmas:-)

I think they should tell us more in the next couple weeks before the holiday shopping starts. It could put people off buying the competitors. Though it would also impact Wii U and 3DS sales.
The power is one thing I'm curious about. Now that Sony and MS have decided to release mid gen consoles, they've more or less extended this generation so it won't feel like Nintendo are as late to the party this time, as long as it can at least match XBox One. I say that console instead of PS4 because the Scorpio games are still meant to play on the XBone as far as I know. (Although I think I read it's up to the devs)

What are the chances of being able to play online when not docked? Or out and about?? 4g built in???

I couldn't be more chuffed and happy out with graphics for on the go. But compared to X1 and PS4 graphics look more like WiiU which im fine with but can it get ports RedDead2, New Mass Effect etc. I dunno.

Maybe It doesn't need AAA titles coming to them if it has its own. But Mario3D, MKart, Splatoon, Skyrim, Zelda BoTW all look exact same as WiiU games. If so it late to current gen party. Be nice see more videos soon.

Maybe the Dock can be upgraded every few years?

Eitherway 3DS games now sell very well proving its not about graphics only. Console games on the go is somethings others cant replicate and no streaming doesn't count even thou its great to be able to do with Windows 10 and X1.

I wouldn't really think so, but I would hope it could tether to your phone or something?

This part will be crucial to how this console survives IMO...

Nintendo really need to get the finger out for online savages like myself, imagine taking a dump in College or work and being able to get a quick Mario Kart Double Pebbledash in?

If the price is right and it's not too much of a step down from current gen systems I might be tempted. I like the idea of a home/mobile hybrid if the games look good on my TV.

I hope it's not a jack of all trades, master of none: Overpowered for a handheld with poor battery life while underpowered when being connected to TV.

Given current CPU/GPU/battery tech I would imagine that this device should be able to push out PS3 level graphics for about 3-4 hours. While I would be happy with this the price needs to be right. The PS4 Pro will be out at that time and the Scorpio out soon. People do the vast majority of their mobile gaming casually on their mobiles.
Questions need to be answered: What is their download policy? Will there be enough storage to download full games? Or will there be large storage on the docking station and you have to transfer your games to on-device storage before going mobile? What are their online gaming policies? Will they still be using those awkward nintendo IDs?

So yeah, the idea of a great mobile Zelda/Metroid/Mariocart game appeals. But not at the expense of a great home Zelda/Metroid/Mariocart game

I suppose sometimes, but I bought a vita and its gathering dust. I'd never even consider bringing a handheld outside the house bar maybe a flight or long bus journey which happens very rarely.

The Switch controller seems to have taken a step back from the odd stick positioning and going for an asymmetrical design, very similar to the 360/XB1 layout.
But the D-pad is a big departure from the design they started with the Game & Watch, continued right up to the Gamepad on the WiiU.
Now we get a set of what look like buttons.
I'm going to assume it's something they've well tested but it... disturbs me as a fan of Nintendo hardware.

The 3 minute reveal ad is up there with some of the worst ads contestants of the apprentice have made.

I doubt even 1 percent of the people who would buy it would bring it outside to play in public like that, and if you're playing local multiplayer sure that's possible on every console.

No pro gamer would put up with a set up shown at the end of that sequence. I just cringed the whole way through the ad.

No way in he'll this will match an Xbox one. Especially if you expect the battery to Last more than 20 minutes

Did you notice if the "pro" controller has a d pad? They obviously needed to put buttons on the two detachable sticks.

Not as a mobile unit but maybe there's extra power while docked? Otherwise the dock is nothing more than a charger/stand.

I've one foot back in the hype pool. It looks like a nice piece of kit and I like the portable aspect of it especially for commutes and the like. I wonder though if it will require a 3G/4G connection in order to use the device when out of the house.

Looks like a nice space saver that won't take up too much room which I like but I need to know what games we're getting before I jump into the hype headfirst.

Nice piece of kit as I say but I need a large array of games to play on it. Don't need AAA. I have an XB1 and a PS4 for that. I need innovative games on a regular basis.

The fact the Dock covers the screen means it's turned off while the handheld is in their so I suspect this is when it switches all its attention to the tv to product the 1080p

I've just had a look at this. Looks fantastic imo. Love the concept. Like the ultimate version of the Wii U.
Suits the likes of me who'll use it on the odd holiday of at home on the couch like with the Wii U but I definately would t use it on he likes of a train in rush hour due to the size whereas a vita/3ds is fine in that space so I'll be interested to see how this affects their handheld market.

Push square, primarily a PlayStation channel on YouTube made an interesting video questioning the idea based on the vita sort of doing something similar with the vita and we all know how that went.. I still love my vita.

As I say I really like it but I'm really not sure will this be what the public want.

I'll be leaving it a year after launch for a price drop and probably stronger/longer lasting batteries. Lol.

Also delighted to see a proper controller. Is it finally time for the Wiimotes to **** off!!
