Budget is around €40K, any suggestions?

Auto and leather would be on with wish list.

You're into a whole other league of running costs with a Disco though. They're an amazingly fresh design for something that came out over 10 years ago.

Not keen on the new model. They did a great job when they updated the lights on the outgoing model. Probably the nicest front LR in my opinion. I'd say you'd have a hard enough time finding a decently priced 7 seater in this country.

There's one near me, 162, looks well. They're very popular now with the crewcab tax, Toyota have really taken their eye off the ball with the land cruiser.

Just for clarity; it's the disco 5 I'm not keen on.

Oh right, the one that looks like a discovery sport but isn't.

I was thinking of the 4 (which is basically a 3)

I recently took a Kia Sorento 7 Seater for a spin. I really liked it and very spacious. Its far more modern inside and a good bit more spacious than the Santa Fe. You should get a 1-2 year old for around that money, as the auto throws the VRT off by a good bit so retail is about €50K. Having said that, dealer explained that all dealers should be giving you at least 3.5K off list price on the manual.
Also recently hired an X-Trail 7 seater. Hated it, shouldn't be a 7 seater, nuff said!

What are those Santa Fe like? Very expensive for a Hyundai....but I think they are a fine solid looking motor with good road presence. Wife has an iX35 and I'm not gone on it but wonder are the Santa Fe better.

If you must buy new waiting for the Skoda Kodiaq might be a good choice. If you can buy secondhand you'd probably get a 2014 BMX X5 2.0d in the U.K. landed here for about 40k
