Mistakes, cock ups, nonsense stories, oddities and plain wrongness that you've noticed over the years. Divulge now.

The episode where Marge takes up body building. She rapes Homer. Like clearly, very clearly rapes him as he doesn't consent to sex with her and squirms for mercy under her as she pins him to the bed. Absolutely f*cking nothing made of it, in the episode or real life. Outrageous scandal.

The episode where Bart gets skinner fired. Everyone in school is having the time of their lives with Flanders as principal. Bart goes full parsnip and gets Skinner his job back. With no consequence! Bart should've been bate out of it and shunned by his peers for life for this.

In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something?

Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

In keeping with the OP, I couldn't see that Michael Jackson episode where the escaped mental patient is allowed stay in Bart's room writing songs for the night being made today.

    .
Given that the Simpsons was a satirical cartoon, I'd be under the strong assumption that that scene was an attempt to show the standard power dichotomy between men and women; And by switching the gender roles and placing Homer in the vulnerable position, The Simpsons was once again providing us with a wonderful, uniquely perceptive portrayal of human life and relationships.

If they'd done the episode five years earlier they might have done a better job of it. The greatest cock up of them all was continuing to make it after it stopped being funny, there's way more bad than good episodes now.

    Not at all.

No matter how many cock ups or moist vaginas the Simpsons produces, it will still be the show that provided us with moments like this. And that is something that will never be open to interpretation.

Too many episodes where Homer realises yet again that he loves Marge.

The Simpsons cocked up when they moved from celebrities voicing characters (like Jackson and Hoffman), or having them do brief but brilliantly effective cameos (think Sting,George Harrison, Liz Taylor), to simply having celebrity plot driven episodes (think the one with Homer as Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's assistant from season 10 onwards).
