For CPW it didn't ask for the country but it does look for a postcode for which I used parcel motels postcode up north. My order must have flagged for review by a person due to this.

For Curry's, the billing address was set to U.K. by default with no option to change.

Well hopefully using the post code from the office we use in Manchester will suffice for me unless they match it to the address line by line.

If i don't get an email by tomorrow then I'll assume I'm in the clear!

Just to update on this, they cancelled my order.

Essentially, they won't accept payment from a card that isn't registered in the UK to allow for fraud checks.

So the only option is to buy it in store when I'm there next week.

They said that stores will have stock anyway, so walking in and buying on the day shouldn't be a problem.

anyone manage get one of these ordered lately. must return note 7 fav. this is only replacement in my eyes as s7 edge isn't top range once s8 comes out. 2 yr contract for thats underwhelming but Pixel XL 128GB might have that wow factor.
No, although I didn't try ordering on the Google Store, but CPW isn't doable.

So just have to buy one next Thursday.

I doubt they'll have much in-store stock straight off the bat. Wouldn't be going especially without checking anyway.

They said they would have plenty. He wouldn't say exactly how much, but said just to call in and I'd be able to get one.

Either way I've to walk past the shop, so no real hassle.

Reviews are out and they seem to be unanimous that it's the best Android phone ever.

Well was always prolly gonna be. I've read a lot of reviews saying it's not worth it coming from a nexus 6p. Specially at those prices.

There's a lot less of it anyway. Nothing a skin wouldn't cure anyway, I've had a red dbrand one on my S7 since day one.[/quote]

My s7 edge has no scratches and i had it without a case for a week. AC said this about the pixel :

"I'm mainly neutral on the aesthetic qualities of the glass "window," aside from the unfortunate fact that it picks up hairline scratches incredibly easily. I spotted at least two or three in just the first few days of using the XL, even while taking extra care handling it. Other reviewers I've spoken to in recent days have picked up similar abrasions (scratches are much less obvious on the white-backed "Very Silver" model, for what it's worth). So let's just say this: scratched-up back glass is going to be A Thing with these phones."

    Huh?
I'm sorry if I didn't read every review on the internet, but that's kind of irrelevant since "unanimous" has a specific meaning.

And while most of the positive reviews I've read have described it as a very good phone, I haven't seen any calling it "the best Android phone ever"

The Pixels are fast — noticeably faster than Samsung's Galaxy S7. On performance alone, these are easily the best Android phones you can buy. For a phone made by Google, that's absolutely the expectation — it's just good to note that at its first time at bat, Google hit a home run.

Google clearly wanted to make something high-end yet widely appealing. It isn’t going after someone who loves a good stylus, or who wants funky design touches or niche productivity features. It’s just a really, really good smartphone.

Pure Android at its absolute best

They reviews ARE almost unanimously positive, even the article you posted is stupidly misleading as it seems to just focus on negative aspects of very positive reviews.

It 'might' be the best android phone ever until the next one is made, which we all know that it will be in one years time.

Then the pixel phones will be worth half of its current value and the next best android phone will be out.

Google are really testing the water here to see if people will perceive the google brand to be worth as much as the apple brand. Except apple have been at it for years and their product does feel luxury in the end and by eye. Unsure about how the pixel feels but by eye certainly lacks the same impact.

If people fall for it, they'll carry on with that policy, if they won't they will have to change strategy which will probably mean returning to more affordable decent specd phones such as the nexus.

Let's not forget that the pixel lacks in a lot of features which should be standard nowdays in flagship devices. They might argue that it's all about the software experience. Well that was the case for the 6p as well, and look at it 12 months after release.

With my note 7 gone back :( I was thinking of the pixel xl but €800ish is too steep for my liking.
Anyone here using the nexus 6p? And why/why not are you thinking of swapping to the pixel?
...I'm thinking of picking up a 6p instead.

I'm not saying it's not a very good phone, but it's misleading hyperbole to claim that every single review (i.e. unanimous) is calling it "the best android phone ever."

Even the CNET article you linked to has a bold paragraph heading calling it "one of the best Android phones right now".

    I have a 6p and I'm not upgrading for a few reasons.

Price of a Pixel XL is madness. Pixel XL has a smaller screen, no front facing speakers and I don't like the even larger bezels.

Annoyed with Google that after less than a year of the 6p and 5x the nexus line is "dead". Won't get updates as quick as the Pixel (primary reason I bought the 6p). Also annoyed about Pixel exclusive features which could easily be availabe to Nexus phones. Android looks like it's gonna get flipped on it's head soon enough anyway with Andromeda so I doubt even the Pixel is long for this world.

It's just not a big enough jump at all from the 6p and way too expensive.
