There is a big difference in the price of home heating oil between the Republic of Ireland and the Six Counties.

    R.O.I. Co. Louth.

    Northern Ireland.

Allowing for the 10-12% difference between the Euro and Sterling there is still a good saving to be made.
I wonder if there are any difficulties i.e. VAT etc ordering from N. Irl.?
I think i'll chance it anyway.
    Any views.

I don't think free trade has gone that far, but let us know how you get on.

They have no carbon tax on theirs.

Is there a chance the NIRL quote is for the diesel home heating oil?

    found this on revenue site
I am a domestic customer (State Resident) and I wish to personally import home heating oil from Northern Ireland for my own domestic use, what do I do?
I am a domestic customer (State Resident) and I wish to personally import home heating oil from Northern Ireland for my own domestic use, what should I do?

There is no provision to allow State Residents to personally import home heating oil into the State for their own use without the payment of excise duty.

If a State Resident wishes to personally import home heating from Northern Ireland, s/he must comply with all aspects of the Mineral Oil Regulations 2012External link including having the container/tank suitably marked and ensuring that the mineral oil conforms with Republic of Ireland fuel marker requirements. An excise duty entry must also be completed and the relevant excise duty, carbon charge and vat paid.
