Some serious ghost estates on the course

100 km to go and it's holding at 1 min, chasing group all over the place as Belgian and Italian rider staying near front and disrupting the chase, Germans getting stroppy , a lot of head shaking going on.

Just tuned in- assuming that we have had some spectacular racing in the desert? How is Sam now?

Group 4 bunch pulled off the course, probably were going to be lapped and it would get too messy

Have to say- this race shows us the difference between some of the top pros. Surely everybody knew that it was going to split in that desert crosswind section - but look at the guys who made the front group - 6 Belgians for a start, led by the incomparable Boonen, 4 canny experienced Eye-talians, the Dutch, the top Norweigan strongmen and the great man himself Sagan. It is a who's-who of likely contenders in something like Paris Roubaix (including this years winner Matt Hayman) along with Matthews, himself a brilliant tactician and all-round racer. The 2 Brits - Cav and Blythe - made it but the entire "SKY" team missed it completely. Throw in a few African riders (Eritrea, SA and Morocco) who can handle the heat, two French "rouleurs" and a rogue Canadian and you have a list of pure "racers:" lads who throw away the earpiece and power meter and horse into it. It is great to watch.

how many laps do they do? 7?

15km to go and where is the spectacle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭pelevin

Last lap. Between Belgians & riders like Terpstra surely bullets are gonna start flying.
