Where's your "Happy Place"?

Seen a hypnotherapist a few years back (didn't work) and they kept telling me to go to my "happy place" which I did and for me it was reading Adrian Mole books when I was around ten or eleven, as that is when I felt the most content in life. Sad, I know.

So, if you were lying on a leather recliner and some charlatan told to go to your happy place.. where would that be?

When I'm sick or sad or stressed out, laying next to someone I know will keep me safe, with my head on their chest really makes me feel better.

'Helping' my grandmother and late granddad pick peas and lettuce and tomatoes from the greenhouse and garden as a small child, purely to bask in the huge amount of praise they'd heap on me. Proof that praising kids can positively affect them for very long time, the memory has never left me.

On the championship tee of the 7th Hole in Youghal Golf Club.
You are on the remotest part of the course.
The tee shot is slightly downhill.
My happy place is standing there alone on a late summer's evening hitting tee shots.

I saw somewhere that hugging someone you trust is very good for you when your sick. Something about that support as a possible protection against stress and could also help boost immunity! Anyway if that's not true, it's still definitely nice to get a hug when you're sick

I will go back to my childhood and say: cycling up the road with my sister as we brought tea and sandwiches made by our mother to bring to our father on a warm summer's day as he made the hay for the winter, and the fun cycle back home down the hills.

Saturday's anytime from 1992 to 2000.
Get home in the afternoon from rugby, play some MegaDrive, N64 or PS2, when I was younger there was Gladiators on tv, few hours more of the games and then I'd run down stairs to watch Match of the Day when I'd hear the theme song at 10:30pm.
I'd never check the scores of the games so I'd be all nervous waiting for Liverpool to come on. For the big games my Dad would have checked Teletext to see the results beforehand. If he called me down to watch on a Leeds - Liverpool game day I'd know they'd beaten Liverpool.

Happy Days man, happy days.

At the same time, I've never known disappointment like the few occasions that BBC NI would inexplicably show the goals from the NI league. Who gives a shít about Bangor vs Cliftonville.

Is that the one where you lay up and then have to shoot over a tree (if you're too far short/left) to the green?
I've only played Youghal once, lost 20 minutes as I couldn't find the path to cross the road to the other holes!!

It's the par 5 that runs parallel to the GAA grounds across the road.
Dog leg right. There's the Par 3 over the water after it.

Mine would probably be when we used to go over to my granny's house early on a Saturday morning which was the day she'd do her baking.

She always made a sponge cake and fairy cakes and I would just sit in the kitchen watching her. She used to leave a tiny bit of the cake mix for me because I loved that stuff.

Playing cards with my Granny, Dad, Aunties, Uncles and cousins down west when I was younger. There was so much joy and happiness around the table. Granny loved the cards and the whole family would congregate for a game once a year. Also running around the fields kicking a ball with the younger brothers at the same gatherings. My uncle lined out a piece of land, built goals and a dugout for us. It was Old Trafford to us.

Then I got older, the granny passed, dad passed, family had no reason to visit and life became complicated. But I do revisit them days and they make me smile.
