Negotiating on wedding dress

Hi all,

Just wondering if it's the done thing to negotiate the price on wedding dresses? A lot of the ones I like are a little out of my price range and I'm wondering if anyone has tried to get a discount?

Even 10% would go a long way.

Always worth a shot, my fiance got 15% off hers and I think she also got 10% off the bridesmaids dresses which she bought in the same place. I do know that some places didn't budge on price though but asking did no harm anyway.

I was offered a discount at an appointment on Saturday, I didn't ask I just said I would have to think about the price as it's way more than I bargained for. She didn't say how much of a discount, just said they might be able to do something on the price for me.

I was told pretty much same, they couldn't budge on the dress as it was brand new style but they would "sort me out" with veil/ underwear/ shoes etc

See if the dress is available in the north. With the sterling prices at the moment you might be able to save yourself a significant amount. You could then collect your dress from them and use a local alterations company to do any alterations.

Thats exactly what I've done. So the dress here is €1890 and up north its £1550 which gives me a 170 euro discount. Just need to see if its worth it with petrol costs etc.
