Planning to purchase about 10k of electrical good for our new house fit out soon.
    We are living in Ireland.
Cheapest quote we have is from a crowd up the north.

The sales guy said that their prices include vat at the UK rate as they are based in the UK.

Is this correct? Could I get stung by revenue for extra Vat down here?
Or is it the responsibility of supplier to apply correct tax rate?

According to this article, is supplier sells over a threshold then they must use Irish vat rate?

    Thanks

Ya, they have to charge VAT at their own rate liable in that country. VAT is a European tax, and each country charges it's own rates. So they have to apply their own rates.

You can't be charged extra VAT in the Republic. You will have paid the VAT due on the products already. The only time VAT is charged bringing stuff in, is if the products are coming in from outside of Europe.
