As for your Gyary it depends on your intended use. If you want a gym defender then the 1749 CP is your mon, if you want an attacker .... he's probably your guy too :p
If you powered your 94% guy up to match, it would only be 2% more powerful but with a worse moveset......meaning even with the 2% advatage in a 1 to 1 battle it would probably lose.

Given the abundance of Magi's why not power up both of them. Gyarydos is on of the few mons I actually spend stardust on powering up.

*** If you want to get deep into game theory (tin foil hats at the ready) then there is an arguement that an attacker needs to only dodge 1 hydropump attack per battle, diminishing it's power greatly. Meaning that on paper hydropump is the better secondary but in reality twister is better becuse Gyary uses it so often and as it is not a massive attack, attacker tend not to dodge it as readily meaning it does more damage overall. In theory ***

Ha cheers, I didn't think so but with it being so light I thought I'd check in case!

Think your idea of powering them both up makes the most sense, actually caught a wild gyarados for the first time yesterday 2 minutes after evolving the 94% one (accidentally hit the lucky egg so had to an evolve spree out walking), but it was only in the 1200's and got a poor appraisal.

What's the story with using pogobag or alternatives, could it get you banned?

From what I can make out:

Stephens Green is just Staryus and Drowzees
    Killiney is Sandshrew
Marlay Park is just Evees now
Merrion Sq has a few Squirtles
    Iveagh gardens has few Growlithes
    Ringsend Park is Kabuto nest
Irishtown Nature Park is Geodude & Sandshrew nest

The back of Trinity (near Pearse train station) is now Diglett

Bull Island - Parking is fine - you can literally park the entire length of the road up to the beach and from there you can walk the beach and also you can drive up the drive way of St.Annes Golf club and turn in the car park.

I would check FastPokeMap today and before you go tomorrow as from what I can see there is way less activity there then there was for the last week

Level 22 and got my first 10k egg today! Also, the nest in the park across from my apartment in Cork has changed to a Charmander nest :D

Another 2km hatch, another Rattata. That's three in a row now. One more on the boil. I have 2 5km eggs ready to pop today too, fingers crossed for something new!!

Hey guys, best place to catch Mr Mime? Visiting Dublin for 3 days next week from Oz. Thanks in advance

Anybody know of a Bulbasaur nest in Dublin? I need something decent to crush all these water Pokemon!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭hdl

Wish they'd change the "nests" around my house, it's still the same old pidgeys, rattatas, etc!

FastPokeMap has only been working intermittently here today, I'm screwed if it goes down anyway. Does anyone use any other maps?

Not sure there's a best place but they do pop up regularly all over Dublin anyway.

I don't know of bulbasaur (he's been my buddy for the past 2 weeks (at least) because I can't find a nest).

But Victoreebell, Vileplum and Tangela all rip water types to shreds, if that helps.

Just keep out and about - you should have no trouble finding one. Mr Mime is a fairly regular spawn these days

I'm raging I didn't get out to the charmanders on St anns golf course sooner. I didn't think they would change it so quick again. Might be nice to get some warning on these things.

Herbert Park might be a regular spawning place for Charmander now (won't say nest exactly) Caught 2 there at lunch, seems to have replaced Abra who were spawning there every few hours

I was just about to get a 'new' second hand phone but if they've nixed all the trackers again don't know if I'll bother. Ten days of cold turkey and I'm slightly less obsessed with getting back playing.

Looks like the Grand Canal between Baggot Street Bridge and Leeson Street Bridge might be a Bulbasaur spot. I caught 2 in the same place today in the morning and at lunchtime (beside the Patrick Kavanagh statue).

In future, please try to avoid using "txt spk". It's a general rule on boards, and it makes reading messages a lot easier for others.

Stumbled across my second wild Blastoise in the space of less than a week earlier. Unfortunately this lad ran on me - wish I could get a Venusaur to spawn in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,673 ✭✭✭mahamageehad

So the eggs popped- 3 5kms and got a Venonat, Doduo and Polywag. Disgusted with the first but Doduo was new for me and need Polywag candies so all in all not bad.

That was a Dratini spawn point. At least it has rolled over to something cool.

That's fine, different strokes for different folks. :D
What I was trying to communicate was for the time and effort it takes to evolve all the starters, the reward should match but it does not. At this rate I'll be into double figures of Gyarydos and Slowbro's (one day I may even get a second bloody Vaporeon) before I get a Charizard. But when I do get the Charizard, any of the group mentioned previously would wipe the floor with it. I just think the mechanics for the starters are a little screwed.

They should be more powerful and sought after than Snorlax but they are not, they've become a tick the pokedex box exercise, at least for me. I think that's a bad thing.

I appreciate the explanation as it makes more sense where you're coming from with the whole "all the starters are basically useless" comment.

So my little scyther nest the last week now appears to be spawning oddish. Ill take that. Still a ways off evolving my gloom.

Mad how the Voltorb and Magnetmite nest has never changed in Mahon Point. Checked it again today and there was like 8 Voltorb on it. Wish they'd change it to Grimer and Bulbasaur nest :)

Took almost 3 months to get enough Magikarp candy, and I get bite and twister :( I'd better get a Snorlax from this 10km egg I got today! :p

I was just looking....Twister is 25 damage. But if you look at how often it recharges it appears to me you can use it 5 times in the same amount of time it takes to recharge say hydro pump on my vaporeon. So that's a potential 125 damage in same recharge rate as 1 hydro pump at 90. Now I'm not all the well up on that side of the game as I'm more about catching them but is that right??
