Google changing the name is more of them just making stupid changes for the sake of it rather than for any valid reason as lets be honest, Nexus devices haven't been a budget line in years. The 6P is currently €649 with the previous years nexus 6 priced similar along with the 5X going for €429 which I would hardly call budget prices.

Most people who bought them got them cheaper than that, they have always been targeted at budget to mid range users, they may have tried to be premium with the 6 but overall the Nexus range has always been a value for money range rather than a premium range. The Pixel range has been expensive with a focus on being targeted to the premium market.

The Chromecast ultra is up on the Irish Play store for €79 but all of the phones seem to have disappeared.

EDIT: When you go to buy it you have to join a waitlist and wait for an email for availability.

It would be handy if you could spend phone credit in the play store for hardwear.

Looks like Google have removed the 5x and 6p from the Irish play store. So there are now no google phones available for Irish people

i was waiting for the pixel annoucement but from reading here

    http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/138437-google-pixel-xl-vs-nexus-6p-what-s-the-difference

There doesn't seem huge differences between the devices that would justify the price difference

    Things I want :

    Google Home
    New Nexus 7

Things I'll wind up buying cause shiny :

    Daydream headset

Bit of a washout for me. I'll wait until November and see about importing a Google Home.

Really disappointed with that pricing. €759 in Germany for the Pixel 32Gb. Cannot at all justify that price when I can get a phone with mostly the same features for 400. There's nothing about the Pixel that makes it worth that price to me and the lack of an SD card is even more disappointing. I'm sticking with my Z3C for another while now.

Personally I'm a bit dubious as to whether 2 years of OS updates & 3 of security updates is good enough support for this kind of pricing from the get go.

Good time to grab a 5x or 6p on ebay before the prices increase.

Laughable price considering Google make money monetising user data through their OS and services.

And if you support Amazing Echo, you're cut off from Google home!?

Unfortunately I just can't get past the design at the moment, plain and uninspiring from the front and ugly at the back.

Won't be handing over that kind of money for design like that. No matter what the software experience.

I like these. I find 5.2 to be the sweet spot, not sure if the pixel xl would be too large or the pixel too small. Going to have to play with them both first before i decide which to go for. Not impressed with just 2 years of OS support, for that price it should be at least 3.

This ^. My Nexus 6 has front facing speakers top and bottom yet has way less bezel than this fugly design.

What do you mean? It says pre-order's are now live in US, Germany, UK and Australia.

Too rich for me unfortunately. Don't like the size of the bottom of bezel in particular but for performance could easily live it, if the phone was a couple of hundred euro cheaper. Think I'll be looking towards OPO4 for my next phone purchase

Would definitely be picking one of these up if they were priced in line with previous Nexus phones but not at this price. Hopefully, it doesn't sell and they get a big price cut. What phone companies are good for rolling out updates quickly and are close to stock android? I want a new phone and these two things are pretty important to me.

Weird thing is HTC produce this device, and now have sliced $150 off the cost of the 10 in the US. That's a complete no-brainer. HTC have the best track record of Android updates, and are very close to stock Android these days.

I paid €450 for my Nexus 5x at launch and at the time I remember thinking, this is the absolute limit I think a Nexus is worth. Disappointed at the prices, I will be moving to a new brand. Has anyone got suggestions on the most Nexus like experience you can get for €400?

HTC build quality is just useless, especially after a year.

That's like saying iPhones are cheap. Build quality has been what always set HTC apart?

You expect the pixel to be poor build quality?
