You never got the impression that Clarke was meticulous in the way that McGinley was the last time.
There was a vibe of let's turn up and have a bit of fun and we'll see where that takes us.

Read about his collegiate days. Or what any other American player thinks of him for that matter.

Let's not get too carried away here

Of course it's nice to win but we will all wake up tomorrow for work and not really give too much thought to the Ryder cup.

Nope. I'm going to be beating on every single American I bump into for the next two years.

It's probably a good thing for the Ryder cup going forward. The yanks needed a win.

Reports of him being a cheat in college and a thief.
Extremely bad attitude in general towards opponents in matchplay, so bad his own college team mates wanted him to lose.
He no longer speaks to any of his family either.
    Not a very likeable chap.

He holds his putter like Jeremy Beadle

Have never seen him hold Jeremy Beadle, but its certainly an odd way to hold a putter.

There's very little to blame Clarke for here. He's bare bones to work with compared to Love III.

    Pieters was an inspired choice.
    As was Cabrera Bello.
Rory and Stenson played superbly all week.
He can't make Rose hole putts.
He can't make Garcia putt consistently well.
He also has a bunch of rookies, some of whom, like Fitzpatrick, have been pretty poor.

The only thing you can really pin on him is that he picked Westwood, which was pretty dubious given his form.

Love III has the luxury of playing a plethora of Major winners, some in great form, far down his pecking order. Captaining is easy when you have a team like USA's. All you've got to do is essentially keep them all interested.

Not playing bello yesterday afternoon was an awful decision to be fair

    He didn't pick Rafa......

Pieters... an inspired choice? I doubt it. An obvious choice, yes.

He wasn't obvious. Clarke could've easily picked Russell Knox (in good form), or one of his old hands Luke Donald.

Hindsight is great, but Pieters wasn't nailed on.

And sorry...I got mixed up on Rafa.

Knox instead of Kaymer or Westy. Pieters had to be picked as his form was "on fire"

Clarke played with Pieters on the final day a few weeks ago to watch him.

Pieters shot a 63 to win as far as I remember.
He was a dead cert then.

Picking Westwood over Knox or the likes was a shocker
