Cork have a very good style of play and having seen most of their games over the past decade, I find it very attractive and it is certainly very effective.
The rain that fell in the first half did not help attractive football.
I don't think Dublin are better footballers either. 6 in a row and 11 in in 12 years would dispute that. They are certainly mentally weak though. Being beaten year in year out in the final will do that to you, especially as they were all close games and THAT comeback a couple of years ago.

Just saw that it actually was a dublin point in the first half. It looked like it was straight away, very poor decision that it was not given.

Anytime I have seen them play ,its a blanket defence ,a huge amount of players behind the ball then break .
Effective yes but I dont think it is attractive.
They were very defensive in the semifinal against Monaghan too.

Ridiculous to suggest there should be a replay, it's not Cork's fault the umpires waved it wide. Dublin had plenty of chances to score and were even gifted a penalty which is the reason this "replay argument" is being brought up.

Yes it's unfortunate that Dublin had a point incorrectly ruled out but there were 40 minutes left in the game for them to pull ahead and they couldn't.

Any reason why hawkeye isn't used for the ladies football?

Because the GAA are the grab all association .The cost of Hawkeye too high it seems ,which is untrue btw.

34000 is a good attendance, they'd have had more too if they weren't looking for 30 euro to get in on the day though .
They should be trying to get as many people into the ground as possible .

Everyone will be giving out about the point that should have been. But the penalty was only given as the ref knew it wouldn't effect the result. Fair play to the cork women, that's some stat, 11 titles in 12 yrs

Ah that's unfortunate, surely it should work for all games in croker especially finals!

LGFA too cheap to pay for the recalibration I suppose

Has to be recalibrated as the ladies play with a smaller ball

"Disgraceful"? Calm down with the over reaction. U'd swear the powers that be went out of their way to wave it wide. Honest mistake, if it was over.

However if it was waved as a point, and we assume the course of the game continued as it did, Cork would have won by 3 because that soft penalty would not have been given.

It's disgraceful because the wrong decision was made and once again incompetent officials have too much influence on the game.

I thought it was a penalty myself.

Incompetent is a bit much. It was 1 mistake. They got all the other points and wides correct for both teams. If you have never made a mistake maybe you should be there the next time.

As soft pens go, it was soft. I very much doubt if there were 3 in it that it would have been given. But we'll never know now.

Soft penalty - but 13 wides didn't help Dublin

People make mistakes, don't think anyone is blaming the umpires, its the fact that the gaa spent a fortune on hawkeye and then don't use it for the final because it's too expensive to run.

Nobody is talking about Dublin penalty that was never a penalty.

Better team won. Well done the Rebels

If anyone is to blame its the ref for the soft penalty and giving them false hope, not the umpire who waved the alleged point wide. Had we won by 4 there wouldve been no ****e talk about replays.

McGonigle giving the poor me in the interview after. Now that is disgraceful. "Not to take away from cork"... bollocks. He wouldnt say it if he didnt want to take away from their great victory

I brought my son along for the day as a neutral - very enjoyable.

Midleton v Erins Own was nip & tuck - I think Midleton probably lost the game in the 1st 20 minutes, with the wind started very brightly & proceeded to hit 5/6 wides. When Erins Own then had a good patch suddenly the magpies were 4 points down. Had a good spell just before half time but going in level having played with the wind was a bad omen. 2nd half was a cracker really nip & tuck. Good flow to the game and credit to the ref there was a good flow to the game. Erin's Own subs really made a difference all contributing. From a player point of view - Lehane was good but was targetted (not in a bad way) by Erin's Own. Luke O'Farrell was disappointing didn't stand out finished the goal which was a great move - same with Jamie Nagle, both had their moments but not consistent enough. Finish was a cracker - I felt sorry for Haughney with the late wide from the sideline - he had a really strong 2nd half and was brave to make himself available way out on the wing to take on the shot... For Erin's Own Shane Murphy reads the game so well at centre back. Hero Murphy was much better in the 2nd half - managed to get booked for arguing a sideline call fully 60 yards away from where he was standing in the 1st half, but 2nd was more prominent and took his goal very calmly. Two of the subs Collins & O'Callaghan I think really had an impact.

2nd game was a strange one - Glen looked much better side but if douglas had a free taker they would have gone in at half time 3 points down having played into the wind - they missed 3 short range frees and 1 65 from 2 yards off the posts - senior hurling that cannot happen, you'd give out at an U16 game if they're missing those... It was the most committed I've seen Patrick Horgan in a long time - Mark Collins tried his best to make it a physical battle @ centre back/forward but Hoggy got the better of him on a number of occasions and won some good dirty ball. When the chips were down in the 2nd half and Douglas got it back close the glen scored a batch of points that were class - what you'd like to see senior teams doing, number of different players scoring on the run under pressure from tough angles - bar Cadogan (who was virtually un-markable at times) douglas just didn't have that ability to score as freely. Unfortunately from a Cork point of view it was the usual suspects Graeme Callinan, Hoggy, Cadogan were the best on show. Mc Donnell & Cadogan had a extended wrestling match in front of us in the lead up to Mark Collins' goal so almost missed it but game wasn't dirty or anything. For Douglas not many stand outs - Kingston won a lot of ball but I think will have to learn that at senior level you can't beat 3/4 men every time - too often won ball maybe beat his man but then tried to do too much

Way too stop start though - the ref blew the whole time, compared to the first game - he made it very start stop - a lot of times it was totally unclear what the foul was and a couple of times with the advantage rule... well he stretched the limit of that. One I remember Glen forward broke through strong tackle maybe on his own 65/midfield (possible foul but wouldn't have been given in 1st game) but he broke through proceeded to solo to maybe the 45 - can't remember if he shot or was tackled but next thing whistle and the ref brings it back a good 30 yards for the free... Glen guy next to me said it simply - now way that given as a free in Tipp or Kilkenny!!!

As a follower of ladies football for years, I have always enjoyed watching Cora Staunton play, she really is a wonderful player.

Her club team won the Mayo championship tonight, 11-20 v 0-07.

Cora scored.........5-15. That's an amazing score for any individual to get.

Very sad news coming from Douglas today as the ref passed away whilst Reffing a Camogie game between Douglas and Dillons.
Treated at the scene but to no avail.
Terribly sad news and I can only imagine the effect on both his family and friends and all the players in attendance.

What are peoples thoughts on todays SFC semis? Pkayers playing with their clubs already this weekend maybe Avondhus undoing but would love to see them progress. Second game could be a cracker if Ballingcollig repeat the form they showed against the Haven

Nemo - Ballincollig level with 10 to go

    Ballincollig win 1-10 to 2-6.

Mourneabbey ladies look on course to reach 3rd county final in a row, leading west Cork 4-10 to 1-9 with 5 to go. St. Vals beat Inch Rovers 3-11 to 1-8 last night

Massive win for Ballincollig, a team I was told after the CIT match, wouldn't go any further yet now they're in the final after beating both of last years finalists, fair play to them

Carberry will be tough to beat, that Avondhu team were no joke, had a serious half back line, anybody have any reports from either of the matches?

something like 6 or 7 of the Avondhu players played for their clubs this weekend already.

Examiner journalist Michael Moynihan tweeting about a big Cork GAA story in tomorrows paper. Anyone care to guess what's happening? Cahalane and/or Alan Cadogan going playing football?

Typical Moynihan hype. Gary Keegan the boxing guy on to help the Cork hurlers. A nothing story.
