Close the place down. Open a new sub forum with a clear purpose/identity of what it is and what it wants to be. And let people interact without fear of getting shut down for breaking some nonsensical rule like 'chatting'. We dont need another thunderdome but it's a bit like North Korea in here sometimes.

Take the TTTAY thread as an example...I used to really enjoy it and genuinely laughed every day at some posts, sad as it sounds but I really looked forward to reading it every day but now I definitely think twice before posting and often delete before posting something in case it's ott..

As long as people can get offended it won't change , a discussion forum should be just that , if you get offended by any thing in any way you should fůck right off

Spot on. The charter should be amended. I propose the following :

"If you take offence from anything posted by another poster in After Hours, you will receive a warning from the moderators, and take time out. If you consider yourself vulnerable to the tone of AH hours and that you might take offence, please do not follow this forum. Repeated taking of offence will result in permanent bans from this forum. This is to ensure discussion and debate are not stifled or shut down by offence takers, and that free speech and exchanges of views can take place."

Too many pseudo intellectual armchair psychologists and not enough comedians. Or is it the other way around? I don't even know anymore.

I couldn't agree with this more.

By that you mean the second coming of Ronald Regan. America's best and only choice. The saviour of the 1%. I for one believe in The Donald.

RobbingBandit praises Trump and is thanked by The Highwayman.

I am not making this up!

    Gotta love AH.

I dunno, I've seen another website that rhymes with goat that has a similar philosophy and it's not exactly a great place for debate or a barrel of laughs

Well it's hard to be humorous when one has to be so politically correct.

For example there was some vacuous thread I commented on couple of months back where some guy asked 'why are women always textin'. Stupid question required a stupid answer so I said they're not textin , they're just trying to turn their phones on. I was expecting to get 100,000 thanks. Well, take the 1 off the front of that number and that's wot I got, and I think some people were genuinely upset.

    Consider that a late thanks.

Don't use the site as much as I used too,its gone far too sterile for my liking, there is a certain clique on it who seem to be under the impression if they shout down others opinions\thoughts that it will somehow make it dissapear in the real world...how odd

I'm very fond of this place but it's a bit safe at times. I hate the whole right wing left wing thing. People have opinions and that's the end of it. Let them be free to air them. Don't want the country being turned in to the Middle East? Then it should be ok to say so. A Donald Trump supporter? Tell us about it. Horrible experiences with travellers? That's ok too. *Find the idea of special transgender toilets silly? I'm all ears.

*they are silly. pick one and use it*

Except these things are ok to say here. We have thread after thread of people moaning about immigration as a whole and specifically Muslims immigrating. Same with Trump. Where this echo chamber stuff is coming from is beyond me.

    Know any good Daffodil jokes?

    No, but I know a rhyme;

I wandered lonely as a cloud,
That floats on high o'er plains and hills,
When all at once, I saw a crowd,
    Get off my fukkin daffodils.

    :D

Is it ok for me to say that I think gender neutral clothes and toys for children are completely over the top? Or that some parts of the feminist movement can cause men to become emasculated? That I don't want to live next door to a halting site and the idea of open borders worries me?

    What's a Terry?

A Terry is a rare apparition that some say you can still see in front of the spire in the dead of night, and reflecting in the light of the full moon you can see his .... full moon.

After hours has turned into a PC newsflash advice thread for shame, i guess it was always going to happen. And this thread wont last very long.

I blame the self serving right wing wãnker brigade.

Edit - and wibbs the edgy fùcker.

I've noticed a tendency among some people to classify any sort of dissent as an echo chamber for some reason. We seem to moving away form debate and more towards echo chambers and safe spaces in general so it makes sense that this way of thinking would pervade Boards.

I wrote a post about travellers the other night and I later edited it to include the sentence, 'I've come across some nice travellers too', which is a complete lie because I haven't, but I hand-on-heart felt obliged to throw that in there incase I was accused of being racist against travellers and generalising.
