Hi, I got a nextbase 512g yesterday. I hard wired it into the car but it doesn't seem to have turned off when I turn the car off. The car is a 2012 Ford Focus and it's hardwired into the front fog lights, had it in the air conditioning beforehand but switched around to a less used system. Anybody have any advice on how to fix it so it'll turn off when I turn the car off?

I just trialled and errored every slot, after 4/5 goes found one that cut power when the car was off, easier than getting your hands on a multimeter

More or less did that in the end, couldn't find the multimeter I have anywhere.

Thanks to the two of you!

Most of them should work fine off a usb power supply.

    My next base won't...

You'd probably need something like this to allow continuous recording.

Hi everyone, I was thinking about buying a Rexing V1 camera: https://www.amazon.com/Rexing-Dashboard-Recorder-G-Sensor-Recording/dp/B00X528FNE

I can get one delivered for €80 from eBay, I like this camera because it looks tidy and good quality but I don't know much about dashcams so was hoping someone could advise if I can get a better cam for similar money? Thanks :)

If the software and app work OK then it should be very good. There's been a few posts in the dashcam video thread by someone with one lately (name escapes me) and the quality looks brilliant.

That would be me i think. Camera is excellent - very easily installed and used. App also great with a lot of options - only bug so far is that the gps logs are displaying on german maps. (Correct route overlayed on the wrong map). Haven't had time to look into fixing that yet but other than that, great camera.

Where is the cheapest place to get the BMW Advance Eye front & rear?
I've noticed some websites have different prices, even though they're BMW dealers.
Does anyone know where the cheapest is for fitting and VAT, too?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good dashcam, said good quality picture good battery life etc? Bought a cheap one and I basically got what I paid for! My bad! Want a good one that doesn't basically look like it has as many wires going all over the place!

This G1W is quite cheap, yet still a very good camera, (it's not the original E-Prance version, just a slightly cheaper version)

I have one as a spare for when I'm driving rental cars, and really can't fault it at all.

here & here are examples of footage from it.

You cannot depend on a battery - It will either have to connect to car electrical system or cig plug

Great fixer-upper in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

Silver 2002 Focus hatchback, 1.6 Petrol.
Needs a handbrake cable : holds on one side only.
Needs a coil/HT leads to cure intermittent ignition fault : Slight misfire at low revs, but goes very well otherwise.

Great driver & very nippy with the 1.6 engine.

No longer in use, as replacement already bought.

Thanks for that, followed it exactly and worked a treat. A bit fiddly down the rubber of the door but got there in the end.

As for the mini 0805, I watch a lot of dash cam videos for insurance claims and the quality of this unit is right up there. Haven't tried night time driving yet though
