    Which model is that ?

202 lite. But Halfords have newer models out now. Mine is an older model.

Was just rereading the user manual and it states somewhere else the dc should be kept plugged in while in use. So I don't know what to believe..

What would you expect to pay someone to hardwire a dash cam? Do Halfords offer their €35 service only if you buy the unit from them?

Thinking Mini 0805 into my Hyundai i30

    Cheers

Yeah, a 161. Was that the cable that came with it, is it long enough for that?

Received my ddpai m6 dash Cam looks good and well packaged so hope it's the real deal.

I love the idea of being able to just pull off depending where parked.

    I'll report back when installed.

Interested to hear what you think. I've almost bought a Nextbase 402G a couple of times lately but that ddpai is really tempting me after those reviews posted a while back.

Did you get it from a Euro seller? I could never find one initially. Threre's one on Amazon branded as Boblov but I'd be afraid of it.

Seller on eBay I'll report back hopefully today. €104.00 cost

I'd be running the cable to it anyway with the boot fully open, ensuring you've enough slack to not pull at the connections and damaging them, then perhaps when the boot is closed, you could somehow incorporate an elastic band to keep the power cable taught in a way that it won't be hanging down looking shïtê.

You could also look at running a power supply through the rubber hose that some boot doors have (for lights etc..), but this would be a more complicated task I'd imagine.

Cheers I have a 12v supply in the back of the car so this should make it handy enough and I might have to try and tie up any slack on the cable

Yes that's true, but you can tap into the fuse for the radio as it's ignition switched.

Another solution would be to run a cable through the head liner. Just remove a few trim pieces enough for the cable to pass through, and down towards the C pillar. That's what I would do as the alternative would be to lift the carpet and try route it around seats etc not fun.

Anyone have a dual recording camera or running two separate cameras. I work part time as a taxi driver at night. More interested in a good internal night recording side of things than external. (No big scary interesting stories to share, just getting more security conscious as I get older)

Apologies if this has been asked already. But I'm thinking about installing a dash cam and I'm wondering if anyone who has one installed already has had their insurance prices reduce as a result?

Don't think it happens here as yet, some in the UK do. <snip>

    Edit: Found this.
Right now, only four insurance providers offer discounts for dashboard cams owners in the UK.
    • AXA offers a 10% discount off car insurance, for direct new and renewing customers with a dash cam. This discount excludes cover options and you have to send them a video footage on request.
    • Swiftcover offers the same 10% discount for new and renewing customers. They also give a 12.5% discount if you choose a Nextbase Dashcam, but this discount is only granted to direct new customers. Check out the full Swiftcover terms here.
    • At RAC, you can save £30 on your car insurance, only if you have a RAC insurance approved dash cam, bought from their shop. This offer will only apply to new customers, on their annual insurance premium, for the first year, and will not apply at renewal.
    • At Adrian Flux, you can get up to 15% discount on your insurance, provided you own one of the 53 dashboard cameras listed here(refer to site).

Hi, I got a nextbase 512g yesterday. I hard wired it into the car but it doesn't seem to have turned off when I turn the car off. The car is a 2012 Ford Focus and it's hardwired into the front fog lights, had it in the air conditioning beforehand but switched around to a less used system. Anybody have any advice on how to fix it so it'll turn off when I turn the car off?

See if you can get your hands on a multimeter and use it to find a circuit that turns on and off with the ignition.

Does anyone know of a dashcam that runs off USB power?

Previous owner wired a Dension bluetooth module into the glovebox and it has a USB slot free, wondering if I can avoid wiring hassle by getting something that just plugs into this?

I would assume that a usb connection would come with it. However, I'd assume this would only used for downloading footage etc. For example when my nextbase is plugged into a usb It goes into a "pc mode" which means I can only view footage and transfer files...

Most of them should work fine off a usb power supply.
