Virgin Atlantic only accepting UK issued EASA

you can change your Irish ATPL/CPL to UK one, all you have to do is take out UK Class 1 med. Ryanair is doing the same - asking for everyone to hold an Irish licence. Although EASA licence is indeed valid across the Europe, some airlines are enforcing their rules because .. as the rumor has it.. in some EASA countries it is far more easier to obtain Class 1 medical than in others (#south, #bribery )

it's not about the licence, CPL skill tests are conducted pretty much the same all over EASA, that's not the problem. The issue is the medical side. In EASA the state of licence issue is the state that holds your medical record. If you got your class 1 as some do - through medical tourism - Virgin/Ryanair want nothing to do with you
