Costa or agura for captain? Tempted to dessert aguera for this week with chelsea playing hull

Doesn't really matter who Aguero plays against, the man is a goal machine.

So captaining Zlatan against Stoke will surely go against my "just captain Aguero" edict.

    1. That'd be pretty standard risk/reward for me. Have a strong front 8 if you include Capoue so can take an injury. Baines out...I'll take another hit.

    2. If you read the 19.15 post properly my friend you will see there is no question about the Rashford part. Just the Payet/Caz. You brought up Rashford. :)

    3. Whoa. I'm a huge Alexis believer. But we all had to pick somebody to go without. I probably shoulda got him in my wildcard as I know the risks of not owning him. But in fairness to the Caz punt, he only trails Alexis by 11 points in the 3 weeks. And would be much closer but for stupid Sanchez inexplicably taking a penalty off him.

    4. I'm just a bit hurt you think I'd actually miss a price rise on Rashford. Me!!
    1. Admittedly.

    2. Hey you?!

West Ham seem to have been pretty abject today.

I had planned on doing Caz to Sanchez for -4 this week combined with Costa to Rashford. Swear to god I made the moves 3 or 4 times last week when tinkering around. But somehow I'm now 0.2 short. I'm losing my marbles this year.

So. The question for yis is..

    A) Do I ship Payet to Alexis?
Pros. Keep Cazorla who looked good yesterday for another game or 2. They are surely due a penalty soon too! Would free up cash for maybe an arsenal def too.
Cons. Payet has MID, cry, SUN. But was not at the races today and WHU getting a bit toxic.

    B) Or do I go to -8 and free up some cash from my defence. Probably Baines out. And do Sanchez for Caz. My defence like most is in a mess. And as no defence (apart from Arsenal) look worth it I'm largely gonna ignore it unless I need to release value, or an opportunity for a good odds hit emerges.

Sanchez in incoming no matter what.
Post started with you having planned for Sanchez & Rashford in for -4 but now £0.2m short. You never said you did the possible part of it cash wise :p!

    3. OK. But was surprised you preferred Caz+Payet over Sanchez+Antonio despite the latter being £1.0m more expensive.

    4. I did not. But thought 2. "killed" you.

Edit. Definitely ahead in fact given I captained Costa GW4 when all ye lads captained your shiny new Alexis.
Makes no diff for me :P. I (C) Hazard for the same sh*te outcome (:pac:) and my worse GW ever (3.666m GR) and would not have (C) Costa (too crazy for me). If I had WCed I'd have maybe gone for Lukaku following my MNF (C) stats-proven theory ;).

In hindsight though, I still think I made the right call with my GW6 WC. Only regret/mistake was going Negredo over Lukaku in GW4. Sometimes it's not that bad to follow the crowd...

True. Actually thought of that at the time but forgot. Still if he was only 9 behind Alexis I'd have been happy, said that at the time. Not that unhappy with 11 given that Costa, Puncheon and Payet have returned for me and wouldn't have been in a Sanchez team.

Keeping Costa rather than a cheap striker of whom I didn't fancy any, was a key reason for leaving Sanchez at least for a while. Over the 3 weeks in fact I'd say Costa&Caz are pretty close to Sanchez&Gray/Negredo etc, if not ahead.

Edit. Definitely ahead in fact given I captained Costa GW4 when all ye lads captained your shiny new Alexis.

You probably would have captained your shiny new Sanchez gw 5 if you had him and it wouldn't be costing you 4 pts now to get him in either though.

I need to free up 0.1m to do KDB > Sanchez....currently considering

    Baines > Blind

    or

    Deeney > Austin

    or

    Puncheon > McArthur

    Any advice?

Well with Collins getting 0 points in 3 weeks, looking like I can't bank, need to transfer him out.

    Any ideas ?

Id go with the second option,Blind could be under pressure when Shaw gets back

Before I make any decisions, can I just get a few thoughts on some players as I figure out whether I picked the wrong players or just got unlucky?

Williams and Bolasie: How did Everton play - were they unlucky to concede? How was Bolasie and Lukaku's link up play? Bournemouth are no pushovers but I was expecting this to go the other way!

Townsend: 3 Goals for Palace and seemingly no involvement from their most creative and paciest player! Did he come close at all?

Firmino: I was faced with a choice between him and Coutinho but went for Firmino as he's playing in a more advanced role. I saw some of this game and it seemed as if a lot of the play was bypassing him. Would a straight swap to either Lallana or Coutinho be a smart play here?

Costa/Ibrahimovic: Did these guys just get unlucky to not be involved at all? Can't see myself dropping Costa with Hull next up but Ibra could very well be on the chopping block.

id put it down to one of those weeks when none of your players delivered that doesnt mean they are bad picks. Its just very unfotunate when they all blank together. There has only been 3 cs this gw and all from unexpected teams going by their fixtures (arsenal, southampton and bournemouth). All liverpool mids(bar wijnaldum and hendo) are good options as they have scored more goals than any team since klopp took over every week it will be a different one of them in the points. Personally id hold unless you dont have aguero or sanchez. In that instance id make moves to get them in.

    Agree with Busts.

Just a couple of things. Costa 1 YC away from a 1-week ban. But Hull next so no panic. I'm not a fan of Townsend. But I can see his appeal. And if I did not overinterpret your post ad you actually own Williams, Bolasie & Lukaku it's Everton overkill for me.

Payet + Deeney out for Sanchez + someone crap like Diomande for a -4? Only thing stopping me is the former pairs fixture list.

Failing that will hold, hope for the best and roll the transfer over for the following GW

Any word on kevin de browne... reports saying hes out for a month. he was ripping up trees the last few weeks a pity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

    Thanks for that!

Happy to keep him in the short term after seeing the video. Only worry is that he seemed to be collecting the ball from very deep in parts just like Rooney has been criticised for in the past. That being said, he got himself into some fantastic positions and made some great runs. How he manages to ghost in behind defenders at the back post is something I'll never know!

Did Sterling, Cazorla --> Sanchez, Fletcher for -4 last night

It was really difficult to choose between Mane and Sterling but the stats were in favour of Mane.

I captained Ibra so 5 points difference. And I'd have needed a hit somewhere. I got Aguero back with no hit cause I hadn't the money tied up in midfield. But yeah its a many layered thing, but not as straightforward Sanchez has 2 great GWs so not having him was a balls up.

I haven't worked it out but I'd bet Caz/Costa vs Sanchez/most cheap forwards is much of a muchness last 3 weeks.

Im only having a bit of fun really. Sanchez is a must have for me but of course there are load of things to be considered in whether or not he is actually essential. I reckon this could be the last season Im banging on about sanchez as chances are he will be reclassified as a fwd next year.

    I know you are. :)

But I'm always interested to review things like that objectively. I'd say I'd be better off if I'd got Sanchez in my WC but not much in it given my alternative plan (Caz, Puncheon, Costa) worked to an extent. I also banked 0.2 on Costas price rises.

Happy enough with my team with Payet, Mane and Sanchez in midfield. And over GW4 to 7 I've taken -8 which I'd say is about average for the whole Aguero in and out thing. GW4 wc people took the hits later, GW6 WC people took them earlier.

Payet firing in the next few fixtures would be huge for me.

    What do people think?

If Ibra drops again before Lamela I'll be able to do Lukaku and Lamela ----> Ibra and Snodgrass for -4.

Worth it? Or will I just do Lamela ----> Snodgrass?

    Leaning towards the -4 myself.

Must say I don't get the cazorla love, if he wasn't on pens he'd be an absolute non event. Playing way too deep this season....really hard to see him consistently scoring

Eden Hazard for Alexis Sanchez ?

Hazard has done very little for the last 3 games

Also I have Lamela who is being kept out of the team by Son who has 37 points in 3 games

    Should I take a hit and make 2 transfers for a -4 hit ?

Comes down to whether you think Ibra will outscore Lukaku by 4 or more basically. Ibra good captain material this gw obviously. Lamela and Snodgrass i wouldn't expect much of either this gw, but gw8 onwards Hull have a lovely run and Snodgrass on pens and set pieces, i'll almost certainly be getting him in myself.

Is he that ginger Irish lad that plays with City ? :)

Yes, he's definitely been ruled out for 4 weeks, I had him and was delighted to have him but alas he's already been transferred out for Alexis.

Snodgrass is 2nd choice penalty as far as I know. Hernandez had gone off when they got the pen vs Arsenal.

    Ok time to confess.

I did my -8 last night. No thats not it.

I got Sanchez before his rise leaving me 4.4 to replace Collins. Was gonna go for a 3.9 or 4.0 who didn't play to free up funds. But I didn't.

I brought in Geoff Cameron of Stoke.

    Pro. He's playing oop.
    Con. He's playing for Stoke.
Pro. He got a bonus point vs WBA in a 1-1 draw.
    Con. He's playing for Stoke.
Pro. They have amazing fixtures from GW8
    Con. Stoke. Defender.

I'm getting a stoke defender for gw 9.

Anyone going with Ozil instead of Sanchez? I remember the second half of last season Ozil performed better in terms of points

Just be aware he might not be nailed. They're benching their 20m man Imbula for some reason and he could displace Cameron at DM. Although Cameron started over Pieters at LB in the match before that. Glen Johnson would tempt me if Stoke show any solidity. Although now I have super Lee Grant to rotate with Pickford :D

It was the middle of last season before Sanchez destroyed Ozil in terms of points from GW30 on. Cazorla hurts Ozil's points since he's stealing set pieces and Giroud is also better for Ozil's points. Not a bad option, but I think a Liverpool mid is better around that price point
