Issue with car possibly burning oil!

I certainly seems like my car is having issues with the oil. The window sometimes fogs up a bit when the cold air is turned on so I suspect it is coming from the engine bay.

Oil has to be topped up every so often usually after a long drive on the motor way and I cant see any oil on the ground.

Previously I had an issue with the car jumping when first started up. This would go away after the oil temperature had reached its proper level on the dash board. I replaced a faulty coil in the engine which helped the issue but now its back again. I do not know if this is related to the oil problem or possibly another coil is going.

A few months back I drained the oil and put in a new oil filter. On step I may have missed was to lubricate the new filter. Could this cause burning of oil?

I'm unsure why you seem to be associating the windows fogging up with the car having issues with oil but I would suggest they are two separate problems. The windows fogging up is most likely due to water in the cabin or boot which in turn is most likely due to a leak somewhere.

Again two separate issues I would suggest. Most likely another coil needs to be replaced. They will tend to give up in close succession.

No. Certainly wouldn't be causing the car to burn oil. The only reason for lubricating the filter around the seal is to make it easier to remove at next service.

Is the car a VVTI Toyota by any chance?

I'd say don't worry about the oil use, just keep checking it. It's unlikely to be the cause of the misting or jumping when cold.

You don't say what car it is, but did you change the plug leads and plugs as well as the coil pack? That seems to be the recommended action.

Try replacing the pollen filter to fix the windows fogging up.

I've never noticed an oil temperature gauge on the dashboard . Is there one on some cars ?

So I brought my car to a friends boyfriends garage. Main reason was to have a look at my window regulator but he had a good look around. He noticed the oil was very low but I only topped it up 2 days prior. Apparently older engines can burn oil quicker. He advised me to just put it through the NCT before getting anything repaired in case there is a bigger issue with the car. No point in waisting money I suppose
