I was running a macro technique workshop in our camera club last night, and discovered a friends 5DII body was the cause of blurred macro images...I tested out the lens with my body and it was 100% ok...same settings on the 5DII, as mine which is a 60D ...what could the cause be?

How out of focus are the images, have you tried micro arguments on the 5D II to see if that will fix it?

not even a mm out I would say...it would seem focused through the viewfinder but on backscreen, it would be oof..I will ask my friend to try the micro adjustment...

They've knocked the diopter wheel out of place.

It's up by the viewfinder, top right.

Very annoying feature and easily knocked out of place, I've been meaning to melt mine into place, to stop it moving, as I use a lot of old MF lenses for personal projects..

Silver dot needs to be aligned with the silver line.

No, I checked that...actually was starting to adjust and refocus and take a shot but hadn't the time to complete the full range...

i would imagine the dioptre adjustment would result in inconsistency in how focus looks in the viewfinder, rather than on the exposed image.
