Just trying to convince my other half that when you work part of a tax year paying full tax for an amount of months, then take maternity leave and unpaid after that, that they will owe her tax back. I cannot seem to convince her that she is owed a lot of tax back. She is a teacher, worked from april 2014 till taking maternity around march, had baby end of march, took unpaid april, may, September October. Will this require 2 forms? Which ones?

If she was a permanent teacher in the public sector wouldn't she have been be paid and taxed as normal while she was out on maternity leave? As for the unpaid leave, if it all happened in the same tax year, it is most probable that the unutilised tax credits during her unpaid leave would be fully utilised on her first payslip once she returned to work?

No harm in requesting a P21 Balancing Statement online in the new year to have your taxes reviewed by Revenue.
