Come on, pick me a hobby.

I need a hobby. But I don't know what hobby to choose so I'm throwing it out there to the sensible, level headed regulars of AH to suggest a hobby for me. What could possibly go wrong?

I don't have a lot of money, was hoping to keep this under €30 a month ideally. I've two kids to fit my shiny new hobby around so please bear that in mind but otherwise go nuts!

What do you like? Art/making things or more physically active pursuits?

The gym is usually around the €30 a month... Possibly the best hobby you could take up! Make an event of it... Gym, swim and sauna, relax...

Running? Great exercise and not expensive once you invest in a good pair of running shoes!

Some great ideas so far thanks guys. To answer a question I'm open to suggestions for both active and arty, not ruling out either.

The local gym is €50 a month so a bit more than I could realistically spend. Running is more affordable all right and I already do have a decent pair of runners. It's a little bit boring though to be a sole hobby. I enjoy it, but not quite enough.

This is actually a really good suggestion op! You wouldnt believe how relaxing and therapeutic it is for me to sit down with my daughter and build Lego sets!

A night course in something your interested in? An upfront fee, but a lot less than €30 a month.

I've just started a c25k with my local athletic club. It's twice a week in the evenings so it's handy for after my hubby gets home from work and it's 2 euro a session. Im notsporty in the slightest but I love it and as much as I adore my 2 kids, the 'me' time that's child free is wonderful

Has pulling the chimp been mentioned yet?

€30 per month would buy you a subscription to all sorts of fcuked up stuff to **** over.

    Tying flies for fly-fishing.

Once you get up to speed you can start framing them and selling them as wall hangings.

Kindle Unlimited is a fraction of that price. Plus you have access to public libraries.

Or you could just buy and read three books a month.

Food for thought. I'm not ignoring anyone, I'm heading to bed though. Thanks to all for your suggestions so far.

I'd agree with the gym thing. It's a hobby and you'd set be setting a superb example for your kids, in a time when childhood obesity is kind of prevalent.

But just make sure whatever it is, it makes you happy. Kids can pick up on that too :)

Do you have a dog? If so, Canicross, more fun that just normal running.

Good call. Go to the airport for the grand slam.
Queue to check bags, queue at security, queue to get on plane. Best fun you can have with your clothes (and sunglasses) on.

My dad got mad into model trains and railway sets. He bought items from all over the world on eBay to create a model world for the trains to go through. Even one that ran on steam. I was home once and the postman called with a package, he opened up the letterbox and shout 'choo choooo' :) obviously knew what dads hobby was

Tagging overpasses. Best done at a time when the kids are in bed. Perfect.
