Tus Programe/CE Scheme and Jobs Bridge Internship

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out my situation.

My self and my partner are both on job seekers allowance for over a year, I was receiving 134 and he was receiving 156. We have individual claims but are registered as cohabiting.

Three months ago I started a jobs bridge internship and now I receive 184, and two weeks ago I managed to get some relief work with another company, its one or two days a week (shift work), and so far is not interfering with my Internship. When I spoke to the social welfare they told me that this would not effect my payment but were unsure how this would effect my partners payment, and said they would get back to me, they were not even able to tell me why we were receiving the rate we were receiving.

Now on the other side my partner was called to the Tus, and they appear to be offering him a placement to start very soon, but he is hoping to start a course in october with fas and is unsure if he starts with tus will he will be allowed or eligable to do the course with fas.

He has applied for a number of CE schemes also, and he is wondering if he does these will he be allowed to do the course.

On the other hand he is hoping to start working with a home help company shortly, but again these hours will vary.

Will either of these schemes mean that his payment wont be effected by my increase in income, also will either of them mean that he can work part-time along side them with out being effected, and that he can participate in the course.

I know its alot of questions but I am so confused by it all , and the social welfare cant seem to answer me.

    Thanks for reading

The rate you are receiving appears incorrect unless you have some means. Normally on JA you would both receive half of the full rate which would be €312.80, so €156.40 each. Do you have any means?

You cannot have paid employment while on Job Bridge without it affecting your claim. You would have to sign off for any days in which you are in paid employment. The means from your paid employment would then affect both claims.

Tus is very similar to a CE scheme. While on TUS or CE you can work outside of the scheme and still receive the full rate but the income he earns would then affect your claim as you are on JA (even while on the intern-ship). The period of time on TUS/CE will count towards any qualifying period for the Fas course so he could come off the TUS/CE scheme to go on the FAS course if he so wished. While he is on TUS/CE your income won't affect his, but unfortunately not the other way around.

I have no other means, The only thing is that I am under 25 so the maximum I can get is 144, but have no idea why I am getting 132.

In relation to the internship I asked the local social welfare office who contacted there head office, and both of them declared that I can work with out it effecting my payment, so I dont know what to take from them, as they have both informed me that it wont effect my payment.

I taught Tus is different because you are no longer seen as having a live claim, but this is what I have read from un official sources so I could be wrong.

does anyone know if you can do a CE scheme and jobbridge internship straight after each other? I want to do a jobbridge, but as there are very few in my area, i may do a CE scheme, provided it means i can do a jobbridge straight after

    Yes, with provisos:

Periods spent on Back to Education Allowance, VTOS, FÁS/Fáilte Ireland Training course, Youthreach, FIT, Community Employment Schemes, TUS, the Rural Social Scheme, Back to Work Scheme, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, Momentum Courses, FÁS Job Initiative or Job Assist will count towards meeting the eligibility of JobBridge provided:

The individual has completed these programmes
    Has a live claim
Is in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance/ Jobseekers Benefit/ One Parent Family Payment/ Disability Allowance or signing for Social Insurance Contribution Credits immediately before commencing on JobBridge.
