Watching an episode of The Simpsons here and the aliens in it had a sign for 'Earth Capital'.

What would you consider as Earth capital and why?

New York without question really. London a close second but given how important the US is on the world stage, NY trumps all

    Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

Japanese would run it well and it would provide a reminder of the potential of man's inhumanity to man.

In a lot of sci fi, it's Buenos Aires.
And then it usually gets destroyed.
So, for that reason, why not Dublin.

It's not even the capital of its own country though.

In fact it's not even the capital of its own state.

The most impressive city ever on Earth would have been Rome 2000 years ago.

Even today the classical ruins are mind blowing.

I am sure the other world religions and none would be impressed with that selection.

What about one of the places the Japanese raped and pillaged their way through for the same reason?

London - the financial capital of the world.

Tokyoians would probably think of their city as deserving.

Probably Washington. That's what all the movies say.

A capital isn't the biggest city, or financial centre. It's the centre of political power.
