Pick an in form player I guess. But if they are leaving one till so late I don't know why they don't just leave them all till them. It is kinda odd

Changed it after billy horsheal went and won the FedEx two years ago. Picks were made 2 weeks before and he then went win win in next two comps so the man in form couldn't get in.

Think we will see Kuchar, Watson and Holmes picked today.

I thought Reed needs a pick to get in??

    No, he's already in.

Last week I thought Ricky would be a certainty, but after finishing outside the top 30 yesterday, he would be a doubt.

I'd pick Stricker every day and twice on Sundays. Steady, bags of experience, played decent golf this year (albeit on a restricted schedule), probably the best putter in the world.

I'd also have Kuchar and Watson. Hard to call the 4th, wait and see after Tour Championship. If none of the contenders take the bull by the horns, I'd probably go for Furyk.

I expect Love will go with Holmes, Kuchar and Watson, and probably Fowler eventually.

Fowler is an absolute cert to be picked.

Think he will be picked but shouldn't be a cert. hasn't been on a winning team and hasn't won a match yet. Not in great form either.
I'd nearly go justin Thomas or Daniel Berger over him

Hmmm, not sure I'd agree there. He may get the final pick, but I'd be surprised if he's picked today.

So, what time is Davis Love making his announcement?

You'd have to think the 4th wildcard will be playing the Tour Championship though. It'd look really odd to wait and see how Atlanta goes and then pick someone who wasn't there I reckon. And wouldn't even be a great message to Fowler, "if no one else ahead of you plays well this week, I'll pick you but you're not my first choice".
Actually thinking about it now, its a bit odd leaving one pick til the end, why not leave them all ? Logistically a nightmare obviously, but it almost creates two classes of wildcards in a way, it could be divisive.

How did Rickie miss out having the same points as Schwartzel ? Is there some form of countback ?

Really can't see how Holmes gets picked with his putting the way it is.

    Lost out on decimals apparently

    yea that is interesting alright
maybe to do with charl having a win or playing fewer events so avg points per tournament would be higher

where did you pick that up?
i was going to say there is no decimals, but i guess when there are ties, all the points from the relevant positions must get added up and divided between the relevant players so this is the only reason i can think

Scroll down, lost out by .57 of a point, Charl probably rounded down and Rickie rounded up

    Rickie, Kuchar and JB Holmes

Expect Bubba to be pick 4 unless someone really pops out of no where next week.

Seriously strong team on paper compared to Europe.

Yep, that's how I see it alright. Smart on waiting to see if Bubba plays well at East lake. Unless he comes last, he will surely get picked.

I cant see anything else but a win for the USA here. So many of the big European stars are not playing well, its just too much for these rookies to handle. Casey surely would be a lock on his current form aswell.

Whats the story with Stenson, is he still injured?

the only positive is that most of the yanks will be playing the last 4 weeks before the ryder cup in the fedex, so that might work against them.

They have a week off this week and 3/4 of them not playing tour championship.

I would rather all the Europeans were in a position to be playing tour championship or competing in Europe as they would be showing a bit of form.

Westwood, Willet, kaymer, Fitzpatrick, Sullivan and wood all playing in Italy this week.

My main worry is Sullivan. Hadn't done a whole lot this year at all. A lot of the points that got him on team were collected before March.
Chris wood didn't play much after winning PGA as he got injured and then got married. Just getting back playing so just needs the rounds and his form should pick up.
Struggling to find when Rafa played last though and doesn't look like he is playing in Europe next two weeks.

Mcilroy is the only player who made it to the tour championship. Quite remarkable really.

but sure lots of the europeans aren't even on the pga tour

Wood, Rafa, Lee, Andy, Fitz, Kaymer, Pieters..... none of these guys on PGA tour, so a mute point really

you can be sure that most of those lads would on the pga tour if they had the choice. Lee is an exception to the rule. Kaymer plays both tours.

    Have I got this right??

Clarke picks his team~ last week, confirming his wildcards

Love announces his team this week, with only 3 out of 4 wildcards confirmed.

Then the class act and seasoned successful Ryder Cup player who is Paul Casey, plays brilliantly in 2 consecutive huge tournaments in the fedex cup in the US . But Clarke has already picked and named all his wild cards!?!

    How fupping stupid is that!?

Why do Europe pick their team in its entirety so early..... in a form game like golf, this is clearly giving themselves a serious competitive disadvantage!? Dumb.

Not everyone's cup of tea. Bigger purses but a pretty lonely and monotonous life.

yea but if they were, they would have played more events over there and not in europe, so results would be wildly different

    put it this way.

how many of the yanks are going to be in the shake up for the race to dubai?

I was in no doubt about this. His name alone would be pressure to include him.

Correct. Even if Casey was now No 1 in the world rankings, he wouldn't be playing in the Ryder Cup.

We've known this for the last year. He made this decision for himself back in 2015.
