Personally I always expected big things from Firminho and from Mane for the record. Was very excited by Mane's signing in paticular from the moment we were linked with him.
As for the defence, they just keep letting me down. I predcited 4-2 or 4-3 in the Arsenal game but stupidly didn't put any money either at 125/1 and 175/1 so felt ill at full time. To avoid this I put money on the same score lines for Leicester at 125/1 and 175/1 respectively. That's the day the defence doesn't let in a second or third!!? Oh lovely. :(

I think it was always evident with Firmino that he has the potential to be something special. Even in the initial couple of games it took him to get going there were flashes of it there. And I think most people noticed it. He did come in for some criticism (and still does, he can be sloppy with simple passes) because people didn't realise the defensive shift he was putting in and just wanted flair but the 'hairdresser who will be loaned out' was comedy hyperbole at its finest.

Also seems to be a few jumping from the Sturridge bandwagon to the Bobby bandwagon recently.

    View from the stands....
That was wonderful to watch. Or football in tight situations - with Firmino at the hub of everything - was wonderful. Some of Firmino's touches were filthy.
Henderson was excellent yesterday, rarely gave the ball away and, finally, commanded things. Wijnaldum was neat and tidy, linked well with defence and attack.
Back 4 was solid, largely untroubled and Mig made a vital save at a key moment. Milner was impressive and Matip looks very assured.
Our attacking play was sensational at times - this was a team that only lost a couple of games last year and we blew them away.
Firmino is amazing to watch in the flesh - a constant blur of motion, superb touches and top notch game intelligence.
Sturridge missed two very presentable chances but worked hard and made some great unselfish runs - something he doesn't always get credit for.
Lallana - who, admittedly, gets on my nerves at times - was excellent, particularly in the second half.
Schmeichel saved them from a pummeling yesterday. We were a pleasure to watch.
Nice to read that a second time:)

Apparently Mane was like this at the start of last season as well and then he disappeared for 3 months so we'll see. But so far so good.

Well he is gonna disappear for a month in January anyway. :(
Although I can't claim to have watched every Southampton game last season I did watch all their highlights and a few of their games and Mane could be very hot and cold for them at times. He was like the little girl with a curl, when he was off he was off and when he was on he was fantastic. I think that our team are built and play in a way that suits Manes attributes alot more than Southampton, in fact we downright rely on it in some games. Don't see him having the same problem with us this season where he goes missing for so long. No chance and he will easily get 15 goals or more for us in the league if he stays fit. That's right, I said easily!

As long as Mane, Firmino, Lallana, Coutinho all don't blow cold at the same time we should be ok if they take turns.

Oh I understand the satire, don't worry. ;)
What always impressed me the most about Firminho tbh was his tenacity. It was plain to see from the highlights of him at Hoffenheim and it is plain to see now too imo. For such a slight footballer too. It was for this reason that I labelled him as Suarez lite. However as you alluded to he does give away possession fairly easily at times with sloppy passes etc so in fact he reminds me more of a better version of Luis Garcia.

Was up the back of the main stand yesterday. The view is unbelievable. Hard to believe you're sitting in the same stadium as last year. They've done an amazing job on it and I can't wait till the anfield road end is done. Very very impressed with everything, the outside, the inside, the whole structure just oozes class.

Guess you could say that for the team yesterday too. Great performance. Matip and Lucas were outstanding i thought. Sad to see him give away the goal but Lucas responded brilliantly. Dunno if they showed it on TV but the Leicester fans had a "don't buy the sun" flag yesterday as well, which was a great touch from them.

All in all a great home coming. Let's take it to Chelsea Friday night now!

Meltdown over the fence even claiming Alan Shearer is a bottler for not joining United and never playing in the champions league when he has at least one Champions League goal so dunno how that is possible lol

So we'll be temporarily at least 2nd if we beat Chelsea by 2 next Friday, repeating last season's result (unless Everton win by 3+ tomorrow night). I don't expect it,and it'll be a very difficult game, but 10 points from those opening 5 games would be great. 8 points would be good even, but I'm looking forward to it anyhow as I think it is the type of game we will do pretty well in.

The highs are great, the lows awful. Being a Liverpool supporter really is like being on drugs.

Took Balotelli just 8 minutes to open his account in France.

It was a Nice penalty too.:p

I'd start Sturridge instead of Firmino as a lone striker in most games.

The Firmino can't play with Sturridge bandwagon is fair empty after yesterday, 'twas only ever the one on it anyway iirc.

Getting your courage back a tad I see turdy

Southampton went a bit crap in general around that time IIRC, whether that was much down to Mane I don't know.

Mane fell out with Koeman or vice versa last season as well I think.

Can't see the relationship improving much when we beat them in the derbies this season.

I don't know either to be honest...I'm just going on a conversation I was reading on Twitter. Quite a few people were saying it. If there was a falling out then that would make sense. He's been bloody great so far and long may it continue.

Mane is like the male version of Sterling
    Sterling was crap yesterday

Mane did a Sakho on it and turned up late for a meeting and Koeman dropped him this happened last December and at the time most papers ran with him leaving in January for utd.

But they didn't want him anyway?

Dunno how that player trying to piss him off didn't get two yellows there.

Bullet dodged on The Pie alright. Although at the rate Mourinho is f*cking players under the bus over there he might be back in the team soon enough.

There are many things to say about that season, but to distil it down to us not winning the league because we drew too many is far too simplistic.
The truth is that it is that simple. We drew 7 games at Anfield that season. In contrast, Man Utd drew a total of 5 games all season.

The number of draws in the first half of the season meant that the team needed to win the last 15 games to win the title. We won 12, drew 2, lost 1 and finished 4 points short.
