Really? I must consult my personal psychology as I cycle. I have never noticed this fascinating pathology, though I have seen it in some - not all - drivers, and some - not all - cyclists, and some - not all - pedestrians.

Sorry, mod, posted just at the same time as you did.

Its a mini-roundabout , but you can't drive out in front of an articulated milk-tanker . These trucks need more time to stop than a car .

The quay was designed by an OPW summer student with a Lego town set.
It's hard to fault drivers when in 150m of a national road (N25) there's
    • A pedestrian crossing
    • A roundabout
    • Another pedestrian crossing
    • Another roundabout
    • Yet another pedestrian crossing
    • Exits either side from 2 car parks
    • A fourth pedestrian crossing
The roundabouts mean that traffic on the N25 have to yield to cars coming out of a lane and out of the L&N car park after getting a litre of milk and the paper.

The sooner the by pass is finished the better.
Where is this exactly? Apologies for missing the earlier link

    This happened me today..
(Dash cam footage) Driver of the golf. Indicates to take the 3rd exit in the right hand lane. Then cuts me off as I approach the 2nd exit on the roundabout. The driver then proceeds to enter the N7 at a steady speed of 60kph.

Yup, it was an OAP. I assume though, if I had a "tip" they were in the wrong? Or should I have speed up to try and get down the slip road before them? Just not sure about this part.

I have been told on here before that if the other car is ahead of you on the roundabout, regardless of which lane they're in and where they're indicating, then it's your responsibility not to crash into them.

Well, seeing as you were behind them even though they were clearly in the wrong you should have avoided them as they were ahead of you, good job second guessing their driving though, I use this roundabout a lot and it's common enough unfortunately, because you come down a hill into it too many people take it way too quick also.

That's the N4 though, not the N7, that had me confused for a second.

I see, that does seem a bit strange to me though, if I'm honest.

Ah the N7? That was a typo.. :o Don't know how though, as them keys aren't even near each other. :) But corrected it in the description.. Cheers :)

For some reason that seems to be the way a lot of older drivers have been instructed to use the roundabout. But as we all know that is an incorrect use of indicators. Hopefully that practice is dying out.

    You've been told wrong...

Roundabout is just like a long curved one-way street. Nothing special here - when you change the lane, you indicate and make sure the lane you're changing to is free. Indicating or not - does not change the right of way in any way.

The amount of people I've noticed recently indicating right to go straight on is mind boggling. I don't know if there's something in the water or what it is. Maybe people have just gone from not using indicators at all, to having to use them at all times. Soon they'll have hazards on at all times.

Have noticed this also. Car in front drives up to roundabout indicating right and then goes straight through - with or without indicating left off the roundabout. Its maddening at times!

There was an ad campaign years ago about roundabouts. and it mentioned indicating Right until you pass the exit before the one you intend to take. It did not mention exits after 12 oclock as it does on this website
    http://www.drivingschoolireland.com/roundabouts.html

The person on this roundabout indicated right was in a valid lane for going straight and possibly indicated left when passed the first exit.

But I was always taught that an indicator is only an indication

More likely it's because a lot of drivers don't have a clue.

Yes, I always distrust indicators until it's clear that the driver is using them correctly.
That often means waiting slightly longer at a junction, but it avoids being T-boned!

But think of the fortune that could be made in on-the-spot fines if you had, say, a standard €50 fine for failure to indicate in a timely fashion (or a fine proportional to your earnings) and cameras that could send out automatic fine notices.

Three, surely? Two whizzing through after the lights changed, one swinging around the person waiting to turn to take the turn in front of him/her?

Don't you indicate right to go to the centre of the roundabout, then indicate left as you pass the exit before the one you want, to show that you're changing lanes? (Remembering from before I gave up the car for the bicycle, so apologies if I have this wrong.)

I think you hit the nail on the head. I recall a huge discussion here on roundabouts with many divergent views.

Must be one of my biggest pet hates..incompetent driving on a roundabout.

I thought I was prepared for anything that can happen on a roundabout, but this is a new one I haven't seen before. Doing a full 360 degrees (or more) in the outside lane - not indicating.
It is a miracle I didn't crash into him.
