Bull island wasn't the haven for me it has been to others, one dratini at the entrance, two ekans at the roundabout(first time ive seen in the wild) caught a few rhyhorn at the end of st anne's where you leave to go across to bull island, got a kabuto, quite a few voltorb, a ponyta and a pinsir along the walkway on the way to town. Along with multiples of the usual, psyduck, magicarp rats, rats and more fecking rats.

Not a bad day by any means, but for some reason I expected better, pinsir has been the first new in the wild ive seen in a good long while!

Still haven't spotted a mr mime anywhere, whereabouts have people caught it?

Caught my Mimey in Finglas last week. One popped up during an incense the night before but never caught it.

There are weird spawnings here though I've caught vulpix and squirtle round here too with dozens of pidgey and weedle and the usual crap.

The spawn rates of the region locked pokemon have been increased so they've been popping up everywhere recently. I've randomly ran into 3 in the last few days while just walking around hatching eggs. I wasn't even looking for em, they just popped up along the path I was taking.

On another note, caught an 870CP Kadabra earlier. Would make for a pretty strong Alakazam, if only I had the candies.

For anyone booking holidays, I can strongly recommend Benalmadena. I've caught ten new pokemon in an hour and there's still 4 more shadows on my radar. Tons of pokestops too

Is there anything more infuriating than a pokemon running away after using a berry and getting an excellent throw? 3 times in a row for me today. Lord Jeasus..

Hatching an Eevee/Onyx from a 10k, or a Dragonite popping up and only being 47cp.

I still don't have an Onyx. But I do have a 1600+ Lapras.

You can get a Mr Mine in Galway. I have a few but I don't bother catching them anymore, too weak for battle. I got one ekans but only from an egg. Still don't have a Ponyta or Pinsir yet.

Finally got something other than a jinx from a 10k! A Hitmonlee that's 957CP with Stone Edge, not too bad and new to my deck.

116 caught of 116 seen at level 27 (and a quarter).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

I feel I should have more heavy hitters at level 27.

I started at lv20 as it meant the Pokemon I powered up were strong enough to fight in gyms and not get their ass handed to them. Just make sure the Pokemon you intend to power-up have the best move-set for your purpose.

Since Squirtles are already so damn hard to catch, I'd imagine it's infinitely harder to catch a Blastoise. Unless it's low CP I suppose.

    Still, very unlucky mate

Is it just me or is squirtle the least rare of the starters by a mile in Dublin? Like unless its a known nest or egg I don't see the others, but I get random loose squirtles all over the shop, even my back garden. I've caught a wartortle too and even seen a blastoise on the nearby thing. I just don't bump into the other two at all on my normal daily routine.

Roughly what at part of Dublin are you looking in?

I saw a screenshot from Zaragoza with four charmanders popping together every 15 mins. That seems silly with the rest of the world crying out for them.

I'm heading to Tenerife soon which seems to have a lot of uncommon (for Ireland) ones too. Did you buy a local sim?

Not just you, my experience is the same. The starter Pokemon I encounter are in the following order of visibility (High > Low):
    • Squirtle > Pikachu > Bulbasaur > Charmander

I would agree. Have travelled a bit over the last 2 months. Squirtle defo the most seen. Captured 2 Wartortle (both crap IVs)
I have seen and captured only 2 Charmander, maybe 4 Bulbas, total of 4 Pikachu in the dex (saw 2 more), had maybe 2 Ivysaur on Sightings list.
I would put Pika as rarer than Bulba, personally speaking.

Yeah, I would have said the same about Bulbasaur vs. Pikachu too but I previously found a Pikachu spawn where he was consistently available (at least for several days) but they changed the spawn point so I only managed to catch him twice before the change,

Squirtle and bulba equal first, meet about one or two of each a day. Buggers to catch though. Pikachu 0 sightings. Charmander just over catch, one egg and one starter.

Never seen any signs of the evolved charmanders but have seen warturtle, venusaur, Blastoise and ivysaur. Caught only one of them though.

Lv 22 is a good time to start doing it, by now you'll have a bunch of decent pokemon, and the likelihood of finding far superior ones in the wild, is of course still possible, but not all that likely, because it is going to take you quite a while in between each level level up from now on so I say, pick 1-3 guys you like and want to use a lot, and max them out. Start going for gyms more, the gym turnover has slowed dramatically from what I have heard, certainly has done here in Limerick. I have guys in 4 gyms atm, could have gotten up to 6 if I had free time this morning. Here's what I have at the minute at lv 26.

As regards finding starters in the wild, I have never seen a bulba, once seen a charmander shadow once, but he was at Shannon airport and I was just driving past, have caught 4/5 wartortles, and currently have 107 squirtle candy, holding out to do any evolving until I find the right squirt. Have only seen one pikachu in the wild, hatched a 2nd. Also seen an Ivysaur shadow once in Limerick, but couldn't find him :( Housemate caught a blastoise in the wild here too, so the water turtley boys are certainly more common.

    For me its
    • 42 (44) - Squirtle
    • 31 (32) - Pikachu
    • 5 (5) - Bulbasaur + 1 (1) - Ivysaur
    • 5 (5) - Charmander
    * The number in brackets is the number seen. Outside of brackets is the number caught. The only Pokemon missing from the list is a Blastoise I saw a shadow of but never found thanks to the 3 step bug.

I know a frequent spawn point for Bulbasaur but it's not very close so I don't venture there often as I don't know the correct time of day and they can also be hit and miss. I thought I had one for Charmander but it hasn't panned out. I know 2 frequent spawn points for Pikachu but Squirtle's just seem to pop up quite a lot lately in loads of different places and not necessarily near water.
