, scroll down to the bit about "PAYMENTS FROM CELTIC ROADS GROUP TO THE AUTHORITY" 95% of the tolling revenue is paid directly to Tii. 95%!!!! And they then argued over commission rates being paid on the 5% to themselves through their own tolling company eFlow! FFS. If I wasn't already with someone else, I'd swap on principle.

You missed a few important words: during the construction phase. The amount payable to TII once it was finished isn't disclosed.

No, I just looked a little deeper. 2015 tolling revenue coming in to Tii for 2015 was €126m. That's the money returned from the toll plaza operators to Tii. Then they have their eFlow cash cow, eFlow fines and other toll plaza commissions. I think they do alright out of tolling.

We all know that tolling is just another cash cow for the powers that be. Just look at what Dublin City Council did at the East Link. All these tolls were initially sold as a means of funding the construction of the roads but are likely to continue in perpetuity.
Motor Tax and other motor related taxes are supposedly funding the maintenance of the road network. I'd be happier if they separated the motorway network and tolled it to develop and maintain a city to city network rather than the Dublin based arterial system we currently have.

I drove through the M1 toll in both directions yesterday and my eFlow tag beeped and the toll opened. I was about to hand the cashier a fiver when it opened up and the cashier just told me to go

All sorted apparently - here is a copy of a mail I received. Names changed to protect the identity of those involved.

    Dear Mr Traco,
We would like to let you know that after further discussions between TII (eFlow) and the Celtic Roads Group, an agreement has been made.
This good news means that there will be no interruption to the tag processing service for eFlow tag account holders.
Your eFlow tag(s) will continue to work on all toll roads in Ireland. You will be able to automatically travel through all toll roads in the Republic of Ireland and will not have to stop to pay.
As an eFlow customer, you no longer need to switch to another tag provider in order to have access to the the M1 (Gormanston), M7/M8 (Portlaoise) and N25 (Waterford City Bypass). Your eFlow tag will continue to work as normal.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being a valued eFlow customer, and to apologise for any inconvenience the issue may have caused you.
