killer91 thats not what my uncle said id wager hes prob higher rank than you

[Mod]We would prefer a higher standard of discourse than "My daddy can beat up your daddy" levels.

Something like this should be assessed on two grounds.

    1) Is uncle in the medical corps, or otherwise in a position which entails first-hand knowledge of the matter in questions, or

    2) Show the regulation which permits it.[/mod]

I can't imagine a GP's note working either, but if it's at the military doctor's discretion to pass/fail someone, maybe he can take the note into account.

Are applications still open for Army recruits? If not, when will they open again?

Hey, they are currently closed. They will be recruiting again early 2017.

Hi guys, I want to apply for the PDF the next time they are recruiting. I'm entirely fit and healthy but I wear glasses to correct myopia and I have an astigmatism in one eye. Would this completely destroy my chances? I know it can be quite stringent for cadetships but I was told there's a little bit more Lee-way for recruits?

If so would the British Army be a bit more lenient?

Plenty of people in both the PDF and HMAF that wear glasses with varied of eye issues aslong as you meet the requirements for correction in both you should be ok. HMAF have different roles with different requirements relating to medicals and fitness were the PDF have one set medical and fitness.

Print off the medical requirements and go to our local GP or eye clinic and ask do you meet the requirements.

When you get called for Army medical unless asked do not mention apart from wearing glasses. As on occasion you can be your own worst enemy when competition is so hard.

You don't get notification whether you pass or not, you do the medical and then if you failed it they will call you and say why... If you "pass" you hear nothing and then anytime after your results from the medical check out ok they can email you saying ... (For example) hi Johnny, report to Collins barracks on 1/1/17 at 8am to commence training. Bring these items with you and so on ....
You will get 3 weeks notice Minimum.

This is the way it goes. You could be emailed within a month or it could be 6 months it could even be a year.

Hope this helped ya. Good luck with it.

You will get 3 weeks notice Minimum.

I wouldn't count on that. I think I got nine days notice or something when I joined the army. Was definitely less than two weeks.

Does anyone know what the armys regulations are on mental health requirements. Do they accept applicants with mild personality or mental health conditions?

When I started I got 1 week notice but it's a new rule for this recruitment campaign that they must give you 3 weeks notice minimum.

    That's a huge no-no in the DF.

They do not have to give you 3 weeks notice minimum.

Given the offers were to be emailed on October 2nd for the intake starting on October 17th, that was always gonna be two weeks at most.
