Will applying for multiple AIPs affect credit rating ?

Hi friends, I am just wondering. Can I go to two or three banks to apply for AIP ? Will this affect my credit rating ? I'm told that when multiple lookups / searches are done against your credit history, this can have a negative impact. Any advice ?

It will show on your ICB rating to the other providers. They may ask why.

OK, to answer my own question, its not a problem. I have approached three institutions and informed them all that I have AIP elsewhere. I also asked them if they thought applying for multiple AIPs would affect my credit rating. In each case they said no, not at all, and advised that it was infact prudent and good practice to shop around.
