What is up with women texting all day? The missus practically live tweets me her day, I pretend to be asleep sometimes just to get some peace

I don't even know where my phone is at the moment (it probably needs charging).

So I raise your anecdotal evidence with my own and suggest it may be more your missus than her reproductive organs doing the texting.

I'm a woman and I hate texting. I usually start typing out a message and then just give up and call someone instead. But yes, many people I know text all day. Do you reply to her OP?

It's a portal to the entirety of the accumulated knowledge of humanity, via the internet, a way to communicate with all my friends world wide, and has tonnes of my memories and media on it.

Women on average have smaller fingers then men and so find it easier to text. Men by comparison frequently have a testosterone fuelled primordial battle with autocorrect.

We have a young girl behind the bar in my local sometimes. I've seen her texting. It's something to behold! She does it with just her thumbs and the speed of them is just incredible :eek:

Wow! Hell, no! I just opened the text bit on my phone. If I tried to use my thumb, I'd be writing a complete sentence of gibberish with every, attempted, key stroke!

I dunno, I've only ever used just my thumbs. I type on a normal keyboard with just fingers, no thumbs. If you hold the phone with your fingers/palms and type with the thumbs it's alot easier. And I have fat thumbs!

There is this text piety thing- I know you hate texting but I text you anyway. Now I'm bitterly disappointed in you when you don't reply satisfactorily. For me, texting is only a way of communicating essential information:

'I'm on the way/ been delayed'.

'Pick up milk'.

'I'm on a bus that will blow up if it slows to less than 50mph'.

'Look, we've had our ups and downs but I think we need to break up... byeeee [I'm in bed with your sister, btw]'.

That kind of thing
