Have you ever read the Bible? It's kind of, er, messed up. Saying that a man who sleeps with another man should be stoned to death. And lots of other stuff.

I love how you preach hate against the Muslim religion and then finish up by saying, "I'm not Anti Muslim".

Is that the new, "I'm not racist, but..."?

Seriously are you actually for real i have just said i hate all relgion , the churchs view on homosexuality , contraception etc is backwards and abhorent and their covering up of sexual abuse of children is disgusting.

Where did i say i wa not anti muslim ? i have a major issue with people who follow islam just as i have a major issue with people who follow catholocicm or scientology. If you can subsribe to a group that infict misery on women children animals homosexuals prisoners wtc then yeh ive no time for you.

The only diffrence between the Quoran and the bilble is that the quoran drectly and expressly glorifys war in the name of God against non belivers and glorifys those who martyr themselves for the cause.

But just so were crystal clear here i hate Islam , I hate catholocism i hate any organisiation that seek to explouit peoples vulnerabililitys and brainwash them to go agianst human nature in the hope that there is something better then the life the have on earth.

How long can you keep this up lads? Are you really going to create a new thread every time there's a stabbing in Europe, or is it only when you can push an agenda?

As you read this someone in Europe is being stabbed, perhaps by someone who is mentally ill, perhaps not.

It looks like it's time to play idiot bingo again.

So you admit your opinion is heavily influenced by your hatred? It seems like your hatred has taken over from your rationality and ability to be objective. In reality you're still allowing religion to control your emotions and thought process with this level of hatred.

Why is it hatred if people don't agree with Islam? A 7th century ideology designed to control people. Islamophobic is probably one of the most stupid words of the 21st century.

It is hatred when they say multiple times, in very colourful fashions, that they hate it.

To be honest its pointless arguing this with people like you i already know where this will go , eventually i will be called uneducated which i'm not (I've an Msc) , bigoted which again i'm not ( campaigned for marriage equality and repeal the 8th despite being strait and a bloke ) and Racist which i absolutely am not.

so i'm gunna check out now and let you all just trot out the he was mentally ill and had nothing to do with rligion line again , but its getting old seriously old at this stage. ask yourself why governments are calling on muslim leaders to do more in their community's instead of calling on mental health charitys , groups and providers to do more to prevent this kinda Sh1t...... seems an odd approch to solving a problem that has not root in religious indoctrination

He expressly states it's hatred. There's a difference between disagreement, I disagree with Islam, it's based on a religion that plagiarized the myths of other cultures, it can't be true. But hatred clouds judgement, it's creates bias.

When did anyone try to shut down the discussion? Instead offering a different opinion. Otherwise it'd go from an open discussion to a circle jerk.

When are the mental health crowd going to step up and suggest solutions?

Why would it be either mental health or terrorism?

If I was running recruiting agency for terrorists and suicide attackers, I would be looking for people with mental health problems and learning difficulties. I would stay away from the well adjusted, well balanced people because they would be much harder to convince.

I'm glad this has begun to acknowledge mental health as a factor in terrorism. I hope it doesn't turn into a stick to beat people with mental health or those who work to help those with mental health problems.

The only people mentally ill here are the politically correct apologists who will label you as anything to divert attention away from the real issue.

Or those who label others or give knee jerk, unthinking responses.

If the guy has a history of serious mental illness and this is a symtom of it, fair enough.

I'd be wary of authorities maybe pushing this narrative to calm fears. Racists and sectarianism will always exist and is a mental illness as well so...

I find it ironic that you say we're shutting down discussions as you singlehandely do it yourself.

But I guess we must be in the wrong, because we're not jumping on the muslim hating circle jerk that is happening?

    I have mental health issues

I have been assessed by a professional

Last thing I stabbed was a chicken fillet to ensure it was cooked right through.

Where does it say he showed violent tendencies before? How would the "mental health crowd" know he was going to do something like this?

Ah Jaysus, does that really need explaining?

There are some very serious mental illnesses, I assume you didn't need locked up in a secure psychiatric unit for example. You don't have to answer that question btw, it's an example.

    ...

You must have missed the bit where he has under care in a institution and known to police for stabbing another Jewish man and of course the battle cry of allhu akbar?

Again you're just reading too much into things. I never mentioned my own opinion at all.
Your just having an argument with yourself now.

I'm not making any claims either way, just questioning how you can be so sure about this incident based on a few sentences read online?

Except their not mentally ill their brainwashed there's a distinct diffrence and its beyond offensive to people with genuine mental healt issues that its ok to just say they are all mentally ill but mention the other common factor i.e their all brainwashed by an oppressive repressive totalitarian religion that glorify's martyrdom and dying for god and your just a narrow minded racist bigott.

The apologists are as big a threat as the hate preachers Hitler may have stated WW2 but Nevill Chamberlain allowed him remember that.

thankfully one who commits a crime can't simply state they are mentally ill. it has to be proven via qualified medical professionals that they are or aren't mentally ill. even at that, they're is no guarantee the evidence will be believed.

So it was a crazy man who carried out a violent act, was institutionalized, and released, much to the confusion of his own family, and then went on to carry out another violent act.

I'm sure if you researched, you'd find similar acts, where people believed they were carrying out the will of the Catholic God. But instead of focusing on their religion, people focused (and should focus on) the mental health aspect.

No I saw that. It sounds like a man with mental health problems carrying out an act of terrorism.

Do you think they are mutually exclusive?

But it wasn't terrisom, the police said so.

No I don't think they are mutually exclusive. What strategies have the mental health profession put in place to reduce reoccurance?

Hating Islam doesn't make you anti Muslim.

If you read the post, you'll see that they said they're not Anti Muslim and then when I pointed it out, they replied asking where they had said that.

Honestly...I don't suffer from mental illness but I'm tired of these evil psychopaths blaming their terrible actions on mental illness. At a time where the mental health community are trying to gather understanding amongst the public, they really don't need this. I've lost count of the amount of times some violent crime that's been carried out has been blamed on mental illness. Not every murder/rape/assault has been carried out because the perpetrator is mentally ill
