For me watchfix advised to get the ad to send it back to get the srevice done. I take this as a good thing that they know enough to know what they can not do.

which panerai is it, in house movement or unitas?

if its a unitas be very surprised that they cant service it

    In house 8 day, its a 233.
A 3 month turnaround was putting me off. That and the terrible expense 😬

Yep that needs to go back to base!

Lovely - my favourite Panerai (although my head tells me that it makes more sense to have one with a Unitas in it so you're not a slave to their servicing system. Take plenty of photos before you send it away).

I will post a few when it gets back. They tell me it will be as new and for the price it would need to be.
Its the watch that rules all watches for me. I had a good few over the years but its the best all rounder for me. Quenched my lust for something new for a few years now . It just seems to fit 90% of my needs.

It's always nice to see pictures however my point was that you have a record of the condition of the watch before you sent it away. I realise it's only anecdotal evidence but there have been some murmurings on TZ-UK of watches coming back with more scratches than they went away with.

Thanks for the advise. I didnt take pics but its worn alot and has a few scraps and dings. Im not at all worried about wearing my watches. Im not one to baby them.
Thanks for the heads up anyways.

Watch fix is same as ichrono (gitzer on adverts).

Not sure I like how he presents his adds on adverts. Basically said watch has just been serviced by watchfix and comes with a cert from ichrono etc.

Basically it's him servicing the watch under a different company name and him providing the certs under another company name.

thanks, are ichrono any better? seems to be the exact same contact details for both.......strange!

    Joe Horner in Holyhead?

Good reputation and easy enough to get to as a foot passenger.

thanks, not really an option for me, i dont live in Dublin for a start, but appreciate it.

    any other options in Ireland?

When I was asking around to get a vintage seiko serviced I ended up walking into a lot of quality, old fashioned jewellers in several towns and in each case they phoned their horologist and they all said "no can do".

Admittedly it's not something swiss that uses one of the basically same movements for the last 40 years with a relative abundance of parts, but it is fully working and I just wanted a service.

I think you will struggle to get someone in Ireland as repeated threads like this show.

John Donoghue in Kilkenny repaired a date wheel for me a few months ago. The repair was excellent, quick and cheap.
I don't know if he is taking new business at the moment but he is worth a try.

The other option is to go up to the North and send your watch by Royal Mail Special Delivery from any post office to anywhere in the UK. It is a practically bullet proof service. I sold a watch recently into the UK and RMSD cost me just over 10€ with the watch insured to the value of 2.5k. It was delivered within 24 hours.

Does anyone know if Emily is still operating?

I've work that needs to be done on three of my watches, she did some good work for me before but seems to be uncontactable now.

I'm based in Galway and don't really know where to turn next, has anyone used Hartman's for repair/servicing work?

Every time there's a new message in this thread I hope its positive news. I tried to get in touch with Emily back in Feb, so its been at least 10 months that she has been off the radar, and the web site was shutdown a while ago. I guess its not looking good for watchrepairs.ie, but I hope she's OK.

I'll leave it the full year, and then look elsewhere for a service, but I refuse to subject myself to an eye watering gouging from the watch manufacturer or their ADs.

    I will endorse John again.
He did a great job for me too. The repair was €250 cheaper than a quote I got from Fast Fix in Dundrum Shopping Centre.
