    Hey Guys,

    Have a Renault Megane 2012 1.5 DCI.

Just wondering, what is the best way to clean the bay?

Seen videos on YouTube of people using a power washer/hose and cleaning their engine.

Is this safe or should I stay well clear of that method?

Also, what products are best to use?

    Thanks :)

Your best bet is to ask over in the Detailing Sub-forum.

    My method would be
    1. Cover electrical connectors and components with plastic bags.
    2. Spray on engine degreaser and/or APC.
    3. Work them into the various crevices with a small brush
    4. Rinse down with water
    5. Repeat 2 to 4 as necessary.
    6. Dry everything
    7. Remove electrical protection
    8. Apply dressing and buff.

I wouldn't be a big fan of power hosing the engine as you could force water into where it shouldn't (electrical mainly).

Edit - Forgot the products. I use Autoglym engine and machine cleaner, Bilt Hamber Surfix HD, Flash APC, Lidl APC. I'm not a fan of very shiny plastic so I don't go heavy on the dressing.
