    Hi Guys,

We wanted to park out car somewhere safe (close to the grand canal) and then run on the canal path. We are based in Lucan.
One option is to park at Grange castle and enter Grand canal. Is there any other option for this (is there an option to park at Fonthill and enter grand canal from there)?

    Regards,

Parkwest might be an option - you can get onto the canal path not far from Park West Plaza.

You could park in the train station car park on the Fonthill road. Only a few minutes walk from the canal. Not sure how safe your car would be though. It's pretty isolated and open to theft I'd say, but I've never left a car there to find out.

Don't think there is any spaces there. Why not park at Adams town garage?

Is it a Lamborghini or something?

I'd imagine you'd be safe enough almost anywhere around there. Sarsfields GAA? One of the retail parks in the vicinity?

Is there an address? Adams town garage does not come up in google.

This was the Grange castle parking at the entrance that I was asking:

It's the maxol garage beside the lucan sarsfields gaa ground. You looking to run the canal?

I am not sure how safe the canal is, I don't run on it. I live in lucan

I've done a long run along grand canal Parkwest to Hazelhatch and back as well and running all of it as part of an event. The maxol garage seems fine, coffee sorted when you get back too! From there to Hazelhatch the surface chances to grass track - enjoyable, flies the only annoyance at times!

I've run that stretch of canal thousands of times and apart from some very rare hurled abuse (and a few stones!), have never had any issues. If you're based in Lucan, you should be able to run to the canal from your residence pretty easily. Otherwise, you could park up in Adamstown, around Griffeen Park (which is linked to the canal), Clondalkin Village (Lidl, The Waterside, Park West).

What I do, is park at the McDonald's in the village and enter the park across the road there. Run around the park beside the liffey there and you can go up st Catherine's also

Easy parking near playground, with toilets etc.

You can get to the canal along the Lucan-Clonee Road, but no path on the last 50m and narrow bridge - other option is to come out far side of park through housing estate and get to canal @ Confey. Plenty of nice loops mixing up canal, Leixlip, etc. Quite track up behind Salmon Leap pub run parallel to motorway - footbridge over to Weston Airport so can be a long one if you fancy extending things but busy main road.
