been following this thread and yep I have to agree.

I had recently changed from the monthly account with the tag to get away from the maintenance fee of 1.23 a month to a video account, which is pre-pay on Eflow.

I'm not a regular user of toll roads but like having the piece of mind knowing I won't be whacked with fees and fines and charges when I do use it.

I had to top up the account with a minimum of 40 euro when I set up, which would have lasted me about 6 months.

Now I have to wait for that to go and can't use the blooming account and have to fork out change instead when travelling.

    Very much unhappy with this.

    Perfect, thanks you.

is Easytrip pre pay only? or can you link to your bank account and it will debit it when you use

eflow just worked perfect for me. I use M7/M8 maybe twice a month and m50. one time setup, takes the money when i use. simple

It is post pay only for €500 a month users. In other words business with multiple vehicles.

Everyone else is prepay and you can set a top up to any amount you like. Typically equal to your average monthly usage. It triggers when you hit €6. You can link it to a credit card or a bank account. I got a statement by email and it is detailed. If you want paper, it is extra.

The Dail is closed for the holidays - 8 or 9 weeks makes it easy to understand why so many teachers run for election but I can't believe this is not a hot topic with politicians.
CRG said they might have to close the express lanes completely, presumably to avoid the chaos of EFlow tag holders having to exit at the barrier because their tag isn't read. Everyone will be affected is this happens. Why must we wait until the crisis occurs for someone to take action?
I'm emailing Shane Ross who as Minister for Transport should get involved. He was very vocal about the need to remove the barriers on the M50 when he wasn't even a TD and now we're faced with a similar scenario which is entirely avoidable.

please let us know what Ross says

I cannot be arsed switching providers, might as well just pay at toll.

    so backwards

Waste of time so getting a tag so for express lane for m7 if I have to stop in the normal lane. May as well just return it then. & pay with coins it would be just as quick then.

Got several bags of 10c coins here that will be very handy in the coin baskets.

I dunno. I think countries where you constantly live in fear for you life, or where they throw people off roofs because of their sexual orientation, or round up school girls to send them into slavery are more sh1tty. :)

We have a choice, at least we can switch provider. Would be much worse if eFlow were the only provider.

I think it's unlikely I'll receive a response from Minister Ross for a few days. He's very busy in Rio with his other portfolio of Sport. Glad to see he was able to make a statement about the 2 major incidents involving Irishmen over there as they have such a great bearing on state of the nation.
I cc'd Simon Harris on the mail as he is my local TD but no response from there yet.
I also sent a copy to Stephen Donnelly who topped our constituency in the election and I did get a reply from his Constituency Manager to say that he would respond on his return from holidays on 29th August - 2 days before the deadline.

I equate greed with all of the above..because you know in your loins as an Irish person, it is greed and money at the heart of every decision in this country. If you don't well...stop watching World Cinema and Scandinavian dramas :)

I don't use the roads affected but I'm still going to change in case I do need to use them someday. I'd imagine a lot of others are the same. It will be catastrophic for eFlow if this isn't resolved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Lancher

I don't use them very often myself but the convience is great. I'm a bill pay Eflow customer and won't change unless it becomes a real pain. The arguments for PAYG v bill pay have already been made in this thread and I'm much happier using a bill pay account.

i just got the payg tag just for the m7 so i could use the express lane. but if they are going to close the express lane as few mention here for a while it will be a waste. just as quick then to pay cause i will have to stop.(length of Ques sometimes when anything is on in Dublin convience of tag)

The biggest benefit of the tag is the saving on the M50 toll. If you ever use the M50 it's worth having it just for that.

The tag problem should have highlighted the real problem the tolls themselves

Whats wrong with them. They always seem to work very well for me. East link is especially good - very quick to recognise and lift.

I think he means that there should be no toll at all.

For me it highlights the way our governments approach everything. Rather than interoperability being officially mandated and organised as I assumed it was, it's merely a convenience to be dropped at a moments notice when it no longer suits one of the parties involved. It's somewhat of an accident that it worked for as long as it did.

Kinda off topic, but to give you an idea how bad eflow are, all this over the holder on the window
    • Herself bought a different car, rings Saturday, ah wait till you have the new car, not ill post you one out now
    • Tuesday collected the car and rang eflow again, we will send it out in post
    • Monday we head off to Cork/Kerry with no holder, try holding it up didn’t work
    • Rang on way down, ah it reads the reg or go to cashier (defeats the purpose of tag)
    • Coming back on Friday had to go cashier
    • Rang them again, are you sure the address is right as its been sent, I’ll send it again

The address on the tag is blanchardstown, so from Tuesday to Friday of the next week they couldn’t get a tag from there to navan. Makes me wonder if they ever sent it and then if there’s so much issues in posting it, offer people to collect it.

Well that's common knowledge that the tag needs to be registered to the reg of the car.

    That's ridiculous.
There is a system in place for tags not being read, diversion to the left lanes that feed to pay baskets.

In saying that I'm glad I don't use the toll facilities at peak times as it will quite likely be a mess for a while.

I'm switching to easytrip, account is set up and I've the new tag, Eflow tag is going back to them next week.

Yes,but whats that got to do with taking so long to send out a replacement holder?

Also on Saturday, all they had to do was ask will you be using the tag in your old car, no, OK ill change it over now
