Did you just pull that 'fact' out of your arse? It's factory farmed, yes...like nearly all the chicken in the supermarkets but they use hormone-free chicken, so basically like any fresh chicken you go to Tesco or Supervalu and buy.

I don't buy factory farmed chicken. Nobody should.

Fair play to ya only buying free range and organic, but the reality is not everybody can afford it. And to meet demand, there has to be factory farmed chicken.

So why did you say they pump it with hormones?

It's terrible, factory farmed, hormone pumped crap chicken.

The ones in Hillbillys that you recommend are all hand reared by the Hillbilly family, and named. The Hillbilly kids cry every time they have to kill one to feed the masses. But the parents tell them the chickens souls have gone to chicken heaven.

I don't bother with organic tbh, just free range pasture rared is grand for me. I know a good farmer he's pretty local and I order stuff from him directly.

Hillbillys and crackbird are the best of the bad lot when it comes to chicken quality.

Chicken and chips for teenagers and adults who don't want to admit they're still ordering off the kiddie's menu.

Nothing particularly wrong in itself except the price and lingering infantalism.

If you don't like chicken and chips, something is wrong with you!

Sure, but if you're going out to a restaurant then you've got any number of much better options.

putting hormones into chicken is not legal in the eu.
There,s free range chickens and factory bred chicken .
they use chemicals and hormones in meat products in the usa .

Its grand, a little expensive for what it is. Tastes nice. Most people seem to hate it for no real reason.

.....whats Nandos like ?? tasty ? better than KFC ?

ah your comparing oranges with apples here mate.

    Nandos is fresh grilled chicken

    KFC deep fried breaded stuff.

IMO both are good but different meals,

KFC for a drunken munch is unreal

Nandos when you want to pretend your being healthy

nandos is grand but is massively overrated.

I find it odd when people say Nandos is overrated, when all I ever hear about Nandos is that it's....well....overrated. I've never actually heard it being "rated" at all.

Have ye ever been to that place on Middle Abbey Street, which offers an all-you-can-eat Asian buffet for €7.50? I used to go there when I started my first job nearby. It was a Mecca for poor students. I walked by there the other day and it's still going. Crazy value.

OT, Nando's is nice. Crackbird is alright too, but the staff are douchebags. No offence but you bring people food for a living, lose the attitude? Ditto Jo Burger (Same owner). They need to review their hiring policy IMO.

Didn't think much of the chicken in Crackbird at all.

The fact that Nando's waiting staff don't take your order really really bothers me. Probably more than it should, might just be grumpy old man syndrome, but if I'm in a restaurant and there's waiting staff then take my bloody order!

What's the going rate? Is it just luck that you got to know this farmer, or does he send a few of the fresh chickens down the town every now and then in a limo handing out flyers to drum up business?

Bland ****e, just another example of what some slick branding and marketing can do for your inferior product.

Which is why I've never left a tip in the few times I've been in there. :D

Thought it a little overpriced, got an undercooked, pink chicken once in the very few times I have darkened its doors.

    I was in one once.

Never been into one but I mentally associate it as a place favoured by people that say stuff like Bantz on social media.

Nandos when you want to pretend your being healthy...

I didn't know it was associated with healthy eating.

That seems like a misplaced reputation to me. I mean, it's not exactly tofu and mung beans.

I wouldn't say hate, it's just annoying when places have ideas above their station.

Both establishments serve up junk food of the lowest order, it baffles me why people go mad for this stuff.

There are a huge variety of independent eateries around Dublin that will serve up good quality honest food for the same cost as these places.

you've been very lucky in life if nandos counts as the lowest order of junk food you've had.

I'd put it somewhere at the border of fast food, where eddie rockets would be one side of the border and milanos on the other.

I realise people have an irrational and disproportionate hate for milanos too... but really you have the question where is this hate coming from, what is burning away at these people?

I mean, I've never had a carvery that would rank as decent grub but I'm not about to launch some misguided gourmet jihad on those who do like carvery but hate nandos.

Spicy grilled chicken, chips and a Super Bock - tastes like holidays to me even if its p155ing done here in Ireland. Awaits being called a filthy philistine for holidaying in the Algarve rather than the Amalfi coast. Or having ideas above my station for not going to tramore or something.... nandos are in that middle ground despised from all sides apparently.

Went there once. Way too expensive - feels like payment is for the gimmicky way it is served, and the sauce.

It's plain chicken (no marinade) and chips, you can add your preferred sauce. Nothing wrong with it at all but it's pretty bland, not worth the price, and when people say it's over-rated they mean its popularity and the praise it gets, which don't make sense to them, and I would agree.

Not in any nandos I've been in! Good try caller.

It's good chicken. But for people living in Cork just get KCs or Hillbillys.
