Wrong.. if a PAYG system suits you and your usage then fair enough.. work away.

So, there was a voucher on this thread somewhere which gave you €20 free credit when you open an account, so that's not even your money that your worrying about for the "credit" balance of €6. Easytrip are basically giving you the low balance, and some free money for tolling too.
Ring Easytrip, ask them for a post paid account, tell them you are a sole trader. Get the forms filled out for your bank references, send your ID and two utility bills in, get credit checked and get your post pay account. Let us all know how you get on.

I understand that you prefer it one way.

Your idea that PAYG is for kids because you are afraid of unexpected direct debits is bizarre, however.

A kid might be in trouble with an unexpected direct debit because it could be his last €20, I can't see why a grown up would have to worry about it.

The fact is, unless there is something you are not mentioning about how you use tolls your total opposition to a PAYG system is based on one extremely mild irritation that couldn't even be called an inconvenience unless your bank account is regularly at €0 the week before pay day.

I just prefer a single bill on a fixed date whenever possible - and preferably without the need to let Irish companies direct access to my account as my experiences there (as I referred to in a previous post) aren't exactly positive either, and I've wasted more than enough hours reclaiming my money when they inevitably screw up without adding another opportunity for it.

Easytrip offer post-pay/single billing to their "business" customers so there's obviously no technical limitation why they can't do so for the rest. The only reason I can infer (and they do have reps on Boards who occasionally post so maybe they'll correct me) is that they don't "trust" ordinary folks to pay the bills - much the same reason for example as why Topaz stopped offering monthly terms on their standard fuel cards previously for example, and while I can understand this to an extent, I resent the implication that I am assumed to be a "credit risk" by default.

Bottom line though is that a deal will be worked out - either before the deadline or shortly thereafter when people who have been caught out (cause you know it'll happen regardless of the emails, tweets and news coverage) start complaining to both sides and others about it.

Until then I'll just use cash or potentially just bypass the affected toll (by my reckoning it'd only add 15 minutes to the trip in question) unless Easytrip decide to open the post-pay option to all in the interim.

Oh believe me, I'd much rather let a fully automated online system manage it, but my experience with multiple companies across several industries show that too often this can't be relied on and in each instance it's involved numerous calls, escalations and frustration to resolve while I've been out of pocket in the interim - and I'm not talking about €20 either

The way I do it now in most cases is that a bill arrives, I review, and then process the payment myself via online banking or the An Post MyBills site.. it's more hassle for me, but at least I know that it's been processed correctly.

PAYG is in my opinion an inferior system better suited for occasional use or for those who (for whatever reason) prefer not to have a monthly commitment.. you may disagree and that's entirely your right however all I want in this instance (to bring it back on topic) is the same option from Easytrip that 1) I already have with eFlow and 2) they do already offer some of their customers.

Anyway we're wayy off course and not going to agree so I'll leave it at that

That's true, also if you are a two car family, like me, then you get reduced monthly fee on the second tag. €0.92, which is something not offered by any other provider that I can see?

that's 25% off if you have two cars on your account, which I imagine a lot of people do.

Is anyone else holding out hope that a last minute resolution will be found? To me it seems as though it's in E Flows best interests to keep its customers rather than loose them to another provider.

Personally I'm gonna hold out until it happens and then send back my tags if it does. Unfortunately the roads affected are the ones I got the tag for and I used them 3-4 times a week. If I have to carry change for a week or two it's not gonna be the end of the world..

BTW, does anyone know what the scenario is if you arrive up to the barrier and you have no cash on you at all? Will they let you through eventually?

Yes, I'm doing the same, there's another 3/4 weeks to settle this and there is lots of pressure on both sides to do so

I'm fairly sure they take your details and give you a notice saying to pay it the next time you come through or by post. That's what DirectRoute do at the Limerick Tunnel anyway.

Unless the oft spoken about pre-pay vs post pay debate is holding you back, I'd get switching.
Customer is king as they say, and eFlow don't seem to be treating you like they care about your business at all. They care about the profit and the m50 fines and getting the cash in. Was up in Belfast at the weekend, stopped in Apple Green, big eFlow sign at the door threatening court action for not paying three quid on the M50, that's some "customer first" approach. (Their logo says "You First" probably should say "Your money first"

)
Personally, this "money first" approach has done it for me,I wouldn't sit watching someone else make extra money whilst I'm left in limbo waiting for them to announce a better deal for themselves and then swallow them trying to make it feel like they did it for the consumer all along.
That's the kind of passive no-reactions that's got the country into this mess in the first...sorry, felt my dad arriving in the conversation.

Which company will allow me to use the express lane at all toll roads in Ireland?

Can I setup an automated system which allows deductions from my account without me having to do anything with that provider on an ongoing basis?

Are Eflow trying to rectify this?

i removed mine in about 2 minutes. Just twist the unit and it'll pop off just leaving the glue. 2 minutes with an old credit card and it's gone.

yes you can setup a automatic deduction of your nominated amount. It is a prepay service. Set it to the same as your monthly usage.

No eflow are not going to rectify this
