Hi. The orange engine light on my mk5 1.4 75hp petrol golf with 190k miles has just come on. Manual says issue with the exhaust system. Could it be the CAT and is it safe to continue to drive it?

That's a generic warning light. You need to have the fault code scanned with a diagnostic computer to point to something more specific.

Go to a mechanic asap and get codes scanned. About 50 euro or so.
