I would say that's okay - much better than twice-a-day at least, unless FBOT or Myles overrules me...?

I hope this week is going better for you? Not too many missed runs?

Thanks nop. I started back running on Wednesday so did 4 miles Wednesday & 4 miles Thursday and felt grand, rest today and plan on doing the 15 mile LSR tomorrow. I'm still coughing a bit but the doctor gave me the go ahead to get back to running so I'm hoping that's ok.

Hopefully I can make the LSR meet up on the 13th will know more the week of it. Also up for meeting up a few other weekends if anyone is up for it.

Heading out for an easy 4miles after work today then the LSR tomorrow morning very early; change of location and heading to Swords and not the park as going out with a few others.

Hope the LSR goes well for everyone this week and enjoy the long weekend!

I did a 9.5 mile run this morning and i have just been reminded of a local 5 mile road race which is on this evening. Would i be mad to do the race??

On what scale percentage would you like to know, is 100 sufficient?

    To reiterate diego's reply, yes.

If only i had remembered the Race was on.

It's just the risk of injury would be high, you could do and could be fine but you could also pay a price for it. In truth a 5 mile race (and you would more than likely gun it on this fine evening) would take more out of you than your run from this morning. Doubles (2 runs in the same day) are hard on the body if you're not used to them, plus in making one of those runs a race it would be too risky.
Unfortunately with the marathon training there are going to be races you have to say no to and it's difficult when you meet people (who probably don't fully understand what you are training for and what is entailed) when asking are you racing and you have to go nah not today.

It's so bad that I'm the only one who does the LSRs on Mondays so I can't make any meet up on weekends :(

But if anyone would like to have company for easy midweek runs in or around Phoenix Park, let me know ;) We've been planning to do one with Kittyclaws but it hasn't happened yet.

See lidl have the marathon high five gel packs back in this week. AND TWO types of foam rollers! I have a big thick Lonsdale one, but might look at getting a new one. Is there much difference between the thin stick ones and the thicker bumpy ones?

Good week here. Did my LSR today as have houseful for weekend, so will get a slow rec run in tomorrow. 12 miles done. Had a gel and some ceramic bar half way to test it out. Went down well and kept a good even pace at 10.50. Really starting to run by feel now and could have kept going.

Funny I have found that eating gels etc have actually put me off craving sweet things! Today after 2 orange tropical gels all I wanted was to eat something savory.

Hi ToriV, I find the thin stick one good for calf muscles and it's also handy for bringing anywhere, maybe if you want to use it before/after a run! Gives your arms a workout as well :)

First up, long run with not enough water on a humid day and the body suffers badly - I am aiming to have access to more water on the LSR's as it makes such a big difference.

Paddy driver, note to self DLR replaces LSR this wkd.....lol...:)

Couldn't resist.. went out this evening for a short LSR of 16k and felt very good, finished strong which is always a bonus. Will have an easy 5k tomorrow and then rest on Sunday. Looking forward to Monday! Should be fun.

Thanks - that's a good idea about taking it out. My old one is big....and I have to fight my kids for it now cos they use it as a rocket launcher!

Some days you feel rubbish but some days you feel top of the world. Felt I could have run for days during this mornings run. :)

Ran without looking at my watch because it was playing up so I had to run by feeling and did HM distance in 1:58

This morning (well the whole holiday so far) confirmed to me that I really am fully committed to DCM :)
I thought being away would be a test, that I'd choose the beer over running, but there I was, in bed early, up at 5, out at 6 to beat the heat, watching the sunrise at 7, and completing my 15m LSR in 2:36 with a massive smile on my face and feeling I had a few more miles in me :)
Finished with an ice cold shower and a swim.

Really hoping this continues. I've been very lucky so far with no niggles, but I know the risk increases the further we go.

Good luck everyone else with the long runs, it's getting serious now!

Went to the park this morning to do 12 miles LSR... at some point took the wrong turn and ended up doing 13 . Well... I could have walked but it would have been a waste ;0)) 2h40min. Wonderful! Great day out today!!

I just ran the longest I have ever run, in my entire life and it felt pretty okay!! All going well, that's a statement I'll be making several times in the coming weeks and months!!
