disposing of gas canisters

is there anywhere I can dispose of two old gas canisters - the 'aerosol' style cans used for camping gas or weed burners? they're old and the rubber seal doesn't allow them to be used - so they're both still full, and i wouldn't want to be around if they went into the sort of bin lorry which compacts the rubbish...

My local civic amenity site/recycling centre takes them. Have a look and see if your local one takes them too depending on where you are.
